As for the debate of whether it's better to hit the deer or try to swerve. I only have liability, so if I hit anything it's coming out of my pocket so I swerve. A long time ago when I first signed up with geico the lady was trying to get me to buy extra insurance. She said collision would be if you dodge the deer and hit the ditch, comprehinsive is if you hit the deer. But I didn't get either one of those. Anyways I'd think if you hit a deer at 50 thats quite capable of costing several thousand to repair.
But really do you think of something like that before you swerve?
And I wasn't driving "at the edge" or anything. The speedlimit is 35 on that road, while 60 is speeding it's not "too fast" for that road.

Yeah I really thought I could keep it on the bearm but sideways, and when the drivers side back tire hit the gravel swoosh right off the side of the road. Yeah I drove it a good bit today everything seems fine, got it up a little past interstate speeds ;) and am confident all suspension components and stuff that could have been damaged are ok. I drove back the same stretch of road and the marks through the grass are probably 300 feet long. From the point where I went off the road to where I slide back up on the road. And where I went airborn it was more like 2 car lengths.
As I drove up on the spot where all this happened I remembered that car insurance commercial (think it was allstate). Where the squirrel jumps out in front of a car, then you hear it skid, and hit something, then the squirrel gives his squirrel buddy a high five.

Stupid animals. Good to hear everything is alright, but at the same time- DO THE SPEED LIMIT! It will save you some time in the future, be it the extra second that isn't needed to stop, or that speeding ticket that you could have avoided2000 silver A4 Camaro
Whisper lid; Free Ram Air; BMR stb; MSD super conductor wires; Gatorback belt?
1986 RX-7 (daily driver)
