Ok I was coming home from the bowling alley going 55mph and got pulled over for going 65mph. I however changed my rear end from a t/a. That rear end had the gear ratio of 2:73 original was 3:08. Can my speed ometer really be 10mph off?? Also I have asked before if I can see the speed which I was clocked at and they denided my request, can they do that?? Any state troopers in here that can answer the last question.

Not sure about Texas Law (if they can show you the speed you were traveling), but you should take your car to a shop and have the speedo recalibrated IMMEDIATELY to match your gears and then challenge the ticket in court. Tell the Judge/Magistrate that you were going to get it fixed as of this current week, and show proof with the receipt from the shop. ~Keep your fingers crossed too.
If you don't want to do that, get a good lawyer or just pay the ticket.sigpic

What I'm saying is to get it recalibrated now, and tell the court that you had it planned this week, but got the ticket a day or so before your appointment...get it now????? I'm trying to give you a hint here!sigpic

So you have 2.73 now but the PCM is programmed for stock 3.08?
If that's the case, when you drive 55 on the speedo, you're actually going 62 mph. If you drive 58 on the speedo, you'd be going 65.Matt

Yeah I write very few tickets for speeding and I sure don't write any for 10 over unless the person is a total fu*kstick. I would just go to the city prosecutor and see if they will work with you on dropping the charge to like improper driving which is a city ordinance and does not affect insurance. Just don't expect the city prosecutor to be all up on car knowledge.

The officer does not have to show you what he clocked you at. I don't know why, I think its stupid even though I've never gotten a speeding ticket yet.

Have not gone to go settle this yet. But im going to see if I can get this dismissed if I get my odometer recalibrated. Also they are handing them out like hot cakes here cuze the holidays are comming up and they need their bonuses. My dad got one, my girlfriend got one, and my boss got one, all from state troopers lol. Guess thier will be a party at the defensive driving classes.
Oh and a word of advise "if your going out of town and are in texas or passing threw avoid odessa and midland".<a href=\"http://www.cardomain.com/id/lucky19\" target=\"_blank\">http://www.cardomain.com/id/lucky19</a>

If you really want to have a chance, go get your sppedo recalibrated. When and if you show the receipt in court, assuming it will help you, it will have a date on it. If the judge sees that you waited to get it done he is going to assume it was not a priority for you, hence not being as leniant with the ticket.
Just my .02 but i agree with hockeyman.What\'s her last name? I\'ll look it up.<br />You know I don\'t recall. Swim, Swammy, Slippy, Slappy, Simmons, Sommons, Swenson, Swanson?<br />Maybe it\'s on the briefcase.<br />Oh yeah! It\'s right here, Samsonite! I was way off! I knew it started with an S though!

I think it would make more sense to say, "I was doing 55 when I got pulled over for 65, and I knew that couldnt be right, so I went to this garage here, hand receipt, and had my speedo calibrated. Turns out it was 10 off and I had no idea."<a href=\"http://dpo.rpaisley.com/displayfile.do?file_id=11856&size=ORIGINAL\" target=\"_blank\">05 GTO</a><br /><a href=\"http://dpo.rpaisley.com/displayfile.do?file_id=2825&size=ORIGINAL\" target=\"_blank\">97 W68</a><br /><a href=\"http://dpo.rpai

By Supreme court ruling we do not have to show you the radar gun and you can also be paced as well. I agree though he was probably need a stat for the night either way what most of these people have said are correct just get it fixed and let the judge know and they'll reduce the charge to a non-moving and or go to traffic school and it wont go against your record.. Good luck if you have more Law question just email me..\"I told you on your first day that I was your whole family, I am your new Mother!
