  • Drove a LS2 GTO Today

First one we got in at work. was an auto but it feels much more powerful than the 04'...you really feel the torque at 5000, the hood looks good, nice true dual exhaust underneath that barely clears thhe driveshaft and the half-shaft on the drivers side. other than that they didnt change it, the paint job is still the worst Ive ever seen on a car, overspray all over the undercarriage. all in all a nice car. but I would never pay sticker price for one. 33g's they're crazy

Well...In my opinion..I cant call this car,a classic american muscle car remake when it has 4 different names and assembly locations...

yes, but I believe the piping is bigger, and I cant remember if the 04's had a x-over, this one has a muffler, then a resonator on each pipe before it exits out the back. And its got some big a** exhaust tips on it too.

                      GTO History Lesson

                      RE: 4 different names

Pontiac GTO History and Research Information

The 1964 model year introduced General Motor’s all new A-Body Platform. The platform included Pontiac’s Tempest and Lemans, Oldsmobile’s F85 and Cutlass, Buick’s Skylark and Special and Chevrolet’s Chevelle and Malibu. The Grand Tourismo Omologato (GTO) package was GM’s first muscle car built on this platform.

The $295.90 GTO option, RPO 382, joined the 1964 Pontiac Tempest/LeMans option list.

yes today... fun as hell, I drove a C6 convertable with I guess its still called the Z51 performance package? Had the slotted rotors, thing is fast and handles like a dream.

Also drove a '05 GTO, with 50 miles, thing was fast, got up and moved and really did well in the corners. But the radio sucked, like I am nto too picky about radios and woudl still want one but I mean the factory base model Cd player in my g/f's Cavalier sounds alot better.

The '05s also seem to have more of a gargle, then the '04s, slightly louder too.

But wanna know what car is freaking badass... The motherfecking Caddillac CTS-V That thing got up and moved, handled, and stopped on a dime. I was shocked by how well it performed yet still had a nice ride over bumps and such. And be that big *** of a tank of a car.

I too have test driven the new GTO...it was pretty sweet as well. And yes, it's the Z51 performance package that comes with the C6. Still though, I'd be more intested in getting a Denali or something for less, and keep working on my car with the rest.

Fully loaded T/A WS6 back in 2002 went for $33k so its not that crazy seeing how the GTO comes pretty loaded, more comfortable, bigger engine, yet not the greatest styling.
