  • Stupid Pep Boys!!

I took my car to PepBoys this past Wednesday for an Oil Leak. It turns out, my oil pan was worn out, and needed to be replaced. Well, they tell me that I would have to leave it there over night because they needed to get the part from the dealer.

Ok, that's cool, one day is fine.

Thursday comes, and guess what? Pep Boys now tells me that they need to keep the car over night again because they have not gotten the part from the dealer yet.

Understandable. I go out, rent an F-150 Truck (sweet *** truck), and Pep Boys even said they would re-emburss (I mis-spelled that) me for the rental.

Friday comes, guess what? Now they say that the part had just gotten thei (1:30pm PST) but they would have to keep the car overnight again because it will take a while to install. That pissed me off.

This means that I will have to keep the truck one more day and pay.

This is absolutely the last time I take my car there. They will in total be keeping the car there for 4 days and 3 nights. They have pretty much kept me guessing when I will get my car back.

P.S. The only plus side I see to this is that I get to keep the F-150 Triton V8 truck one more day. I have never been to fond of trucks until now. Seriously considering getting one.

Probably errors in shipment...Don't sweat it man, especially since they are re-embursing you for the rental.

how does an oil pan wear out???????
running over tree stumps too many times???

besides, if they say they're gonna reimburse you for the rental...make sure it's in writing & not for just that one day.

edit: ok, oil pan gasket, but I still like my first question ;)

They said they were going to charge me $500 bucks for everything on Thursday. I spoke to the manager there and got them to lower it to $430 by basically complaining and saying stuff like "This isn't acceptable" and "you keep changing your story". lol

Ya, they basically did the same thing. All cars were rented out on enterprise, so they upgraded my vehicle and charged me the same price as an economy car. I feel like such a badass on that truck. All I need is a cowboy hat and yell "Yippie Yippie!".

I bet they're out cruising in it, you car was fixed 4 days ago.
I wouldn't be surprised dude. Last time I left my car there, my Camaro had 10 miles more than when I dropped it off.

Oil pans DON'T wear out. And $500? even $430? Somethig is VERY wrong with this story. Either it's something else or you got ripped off.

Oil pan gaskets DO wear out. They're not a cheap gasket either (around $60). Replacing the gasket requires removing the k-member, lifting the engine, and everything else in between. Depending on how much they charge for labor, it could be that expensive.

$60 for an oil pan gasket!!!!!! I got mine for $36.
Damn, those 4th gens require a lot of work for this repair, but not $500 worth. Also, find out how many miles are on there now, and why there is that many.
