when they redesign the GTO on the new platform and not taking it from an Aussy car I might respect it but for now it discraces the GTO name

Funny how so many Americans love to forget that fact.
Where it was assembled does not make it an import, it's the percentage of the contents, where most of it's parts are made in USA.

its a foreign country when i need a passport to visit. otherwise i am going to consider things made in canada to be domestic. you dont think of tv shows/movies filmed in canada as foreign do you?

unless it was designed in a different country, originaly for a different country or the buiseness is import, its not import. i dont care if my car was made in japan next to a honda factory. its not import. zeez

I'm afraid I am inclined to agree...I feel that it was a lazy effort by Pontiac to use someone else's design like that.

                        Actually no, mazda is mazda.

The whole Mazda/Ford deal was just for certain vehicles. Like the Probe, Ford used mazda's engines. Mazda used some of fords chassis for their trucks.

I don't think the Camaro or Firebird are imports but you just proved yourself wrong, the Monaro was designed and made for a diffrent country then Pontiac took it and brought to the US after slightly restying it and made the GTO. So in you own words its an import. If they just would have left it as the Monaro and brought it over all would be good but they put legendary name on it and are trying to paw it off as such.

hehehe....the australians are mad that GM "Americanized" the Monaro by adding scoops.

And mazda is owned by Ford. not completely, but Ford owns a large portion of Mazda. Also, when Ford was advertising their "1 million vehicles sold" campaign, or whatever # it was, they were including all the cars sold by Ford, Jaguar, Mazda, Volvo, Lincoln-Mercury, Aston Martin, and Land Rover. the Ford brand itself has not sold that many cars. they just tallied up all the cars sold by each of those brands throughout the 20th century.
