they force the shortage so when the next round of systems come out, people run out and grab them right away - even if they may have planned to wait to get it. As it, sell more, sell faster. that leads to higher profits and low inventory costs. If it wasn't the night before thanks-b-given I would find the article about this.

They would sell the same no matter which strategy they'd use. Either way, they're going to get their money. Only benefit to the current situation is that they can say "Our system is so popular and in demand, it sold out its first day on the street."
