i would say if you are going to just start over you should step up to the 4th gen z28 or trans am, its a good oppritounity, i'm sure it would end up being cheaper due to you've pretty much parted it out already, and if you fix that entire $5414 would be out of your pocket, you can add everything else again later

Wow - been away and just wanted to add my condolences. When I wrecked my Z a couple years ago it was my fault and I had to pay $$ out of pocket too (took out a loan) - yeah, it sucked. What I wanted to point out to everyone is that from the pics you can obviously see what the STB did to keep the damage down (engine was protected too). I am amazed that it was that effective in a major smash and glad I got one. Everyone w/o should consider getting one for sure. Glad to hear you are going to be OK.\'01 Camaro Vert ~ Black on Teal (but Mean Green in the sun)

That's a lot of money. Deciding to fix or start over is hard. You Should also factor in all that damage is going to drop resale price even if it is fixed well.
I'm on your part out dibs list, but I would much rather see you fix the car if you can swing it.

i dont think it will hurt the resale value if i get it all fixed. it wont have a salvage title or anything, and everything will end up being BETTER than it was before. i also plan on getting the berger panel painted black, and the t-tops black as well if i get it fixed.. which is looking at what is going to happen. itll just cost me an arm and a leg.
even if it did drop the resale value.. it doesnt matter. i planned on keeping this car forever, and still do.Dave:

i talked to a friends dad today. he said i just try and do some more of the work by myself... i take apart the car and strip it down now, then take it to a frame shop to bend it back into shape, then my friends dad can buy the parts/paint them and i can put them all on and install the new a/c radiator etc etc.. the only way this wont work is if my subframe is bent or busted enough that it cant bend back.. thats when i have to buy a new front clip.. and thats where the money comes into playDave:

see if you can find parts at a junkyard. If you find good stock parts like bumper supports, lights, things like that for around a $500 im sure that could save you alot. A new front bumper and cone for my 2003 cavalier painted was over $1000. If I were to give him a bumper and cone from a junkyard that was good, then it would have only cost around $400 for paint then about $200 for the parts.
also shop around and get other quotes. THey will try to match someoneelses quotes.
But, im on the part out list too if it cost you that much. You could get a nice z28 for not too much more. Keep some spare parts for your new car, and part out the rest to get maybe a couple thousand or so.96 Camaro 3.8 A4 Basemodel: 8 mm wires, Shift Kit, Hollowed
Cat(o2 sims), RKSport exhaust, IAT 5.6K resistor, Home Depot CAI
>>>15.375 @ 89.27<<<NEW BEST TIME http://www.cardomain.com/memberpage/552491

oh yeah, you'll have an extra 3.8 and tranny to beef up to eventually put in your car. I really do like the look of your car though.96 Camaro 3.8 A4 Basemodel: 8 mm wires, Shift Kit, Hollowed
Cat(o2 sims), RKSport exhaust, IAT 5.6K resistor, Home Depot CAI
>>>15.375 @ 89.27<<<NEW BEST TIME http://www.cardomain.com/memberpage/552491

I'd buy another v6...
your car was slightly higher mileage right? just get another slightly higher mileage v6 for cheap.
Swap/sell your parts.
you can find a 75k 98+ f-body for $5500, hell maybe cheaper if you find one that needs a little work(hell you have most the parts you need, in your current car)
swap what parts you want over, say make $1k selling your crap, possibly more.
Then you have a car, with all the stuff you wanted on it(well stuff not being bought new) For like $4k
AND you have a spare motor if you plan to go crazy on it.
It is also not a repaired frame car.-Eric
2000 NBM V6 Camaro 5-speed T-top converted
14.467@95.45mph $0 in mods
The member formerly known as MustangEater8251
