WTF? I know there are better products out there compared to zaino. It is not the end all to everything. But what lasts as long and looks as good? Whats as durable? Whats it cost?Give me specific products, not just list oh... poorboys, klasse, wolfgang etc... What do you use?
If I said I use zymol, I coudl be using the $9.99 blue bottle from autozone, or I could be using the $1,350 for one jar stuff they sell, or just one of their $200 detailing kits.
My thoughts about average cleaner wax you get at autozone. Think about appearance mods you get at autozone, neon shifters, crappy decals, type R badges, seat covers that don't fit right. Think about performance exhaust you get there, fartcans, 40 series flomaster, $15 thrush mufflers, screw on tips that don't fit right clamps and flexpipes.
And Hawgs,(I know you will fight kick and scream like a little girl about this) but you are wrong.
A black car prepped and not waxed will look better then a carnuba waxed car you are right. BUT ZAINO IS NOT A CARNUBA WAX! THAT IS WHY PEOPLE LIKE IT!
What wax in the world do you know is 100% clear? none, all have a dulling haze look to them.
points about Zaino.(I bolded some main points)
http://www.ls1camaro.net/sections.ph...rticle&artid=7
About typical carnuba waxes
"Zaino contains no wax (unlike Meguiars 3-step and all other non-synthetic
products). Wax has little durability. Carnauba is a hard, yellow, brittle
wax no matter what they try to tell you. It must be softened with solvents.
It its FAR from optically pure. It melts at low temps easily obtained on
darker cars. Why do you think you can't apply it in the sun? Such waxes are
always mixed with other cheap waxes like paraffin (candle wax). Paraffin melts
around 135F. The product is no stronger than its weakest link. Zaino can
withstand temps well over 300F. "
Thats the main thing when you compare a shine of a car over others. Zaino is not a wax, and is waaaaay more optically pure.
"It shines from the paint surface itself, not from the oily surface as
all waxes do. This allows paint to show off its original color and allows
metallic and "mystic" paint to look more effective"
And you say zaino is "fake looking" one. When you use other waxes you are shining off the oils on the surface of your car more so then the actual paint. Go rub cooking oil on anything and it will look "glossy" but you lose some of the properties of the paint by doing this.
"Zaino contains no abrasives. Most wax products contains abrasives even when
they say it doesn't on the bottle. If you have a single stage paint and you see
the color of your car on your applicator, you can bet there are abrasives in
your product. I would rather leave abrasive products to the professional glazing
industry like 3M or Presta. You can't get consistent abrasives in a departments
store shelf products. They will invariably leave scratches. EVER WONDER WEHRE
THOSE SWIRLS CAME FROM??? You wash your car and go through a couple of rains or
lots of sun and ask yourself, "where did those from? I was so careful when I
washed..." It's often from the cheap abrasives (like SAND) in the wax itself and
since the oils have rinsed off, you can now see them. "
People still don't get it. Wax is not healthy for your paint. People however don't listen, so those that use it will have to suffer the consequences in the long run. Ever see a finished that has been waxed religiously over the course of many years? The paint gets pretty thin. Why? Wax is abrasive, wax is a crystaline structure that needs solvents to be spread thinly, wax literally wears down the paint. It looks good while waxed, but that is like giving a decongestant to someone with a cold and claiming they are cured. It doesn't matter how the shine is perceived or acheived, it is destructive to the finish in the long run.

"The truth of the matter is Carnauba is a dark yellow, brittle wax. It
has no durability. It also has no high shine. In reality it's actually a
dull wax. It is not optically perfect and leaves a film (haze) on the
paint finish. If you took two identical colored cars and placed them
side by side. The one with Zaino would be the true color. The other car
would have a slightly different tint to it.
What you are seeing with Carnauba is a combination of carnauba wax,
polyethylene wax, paraffin wax and the key gloss ingredient SILICONE
OIL.
Silicone oil is inexpensive, greasy, smeary, not durable, but shines
like crazy. Just try Pledge furniture polish on your car. Voila same
shine. Hmm. Pledge is loaded with silicone oil, so is Armor All tire
dressing. Did you ever notice how greasy, smeary and dusty, furniture
looks with Pledge on it. How soon does your car get dusty after you
polish/wax with your favorite product????? When does the gloss start to drop???
I already know. Now here's the best part. Silicone oil and other oils are an essential
ingredient of Carnauba based products. It's the only way to achieve a
shine. That's why it's used in all Carnauba based polish/wax. However,
it has no durability, does not last and it attracts dust and dirt like a
magnet and once dust settles on it, it sticks to it. Dust on paint
causes tiny Swirls and Scratches. Also Carnauba is very brittle. It will
not stay on the paint surface for any length of time. Most of the time
less than 3 weeks....... The sun also effects Carnauba based products.
The sunnier and hotter it gets, the faster it deteriorates. Remember wax
melts and oils tend to migrate to the surface and evaporate... Sad but
true.
Fact: On a sunny 80 degree day, the surface temperature of black paint
will reach 149 degrees and go up to 198 degrees if the ambient temp
reaches 90. It doesn't take a rocket scientist to figure out what
happens to the wax.
When designing and formulating a polish. These are just a few of the
factors that you want to avoid.
Show Car polish has a wet looking gloss, incredible durability, water
beads like crazy, is not effected by the sun and does not attract dust
or dirt. There are no oils, abrasives or wax in Zaino. Nothing sticks
to Zaino Show Car polish."
