  • need to vent (no-I didn't get a speeding ticket!)

The town I live in just made some new codes....one of these codes is to help clean up the appearance of the neighborhood. Part of the code discusses cars. It says something about your car has to be licensed......Anyway, they warned me today. My '67 VW Beetle is not licensed yet and they told me I have to license it or remove it from my property.

First of all, my car is not an eye-soar in the neighborhood. It isn't licensed because it will not pass inspection yet (no horn or front turn signals). Why can't they give an option that you can cover the car? If I have to remove it from my property, how can I work on it to get it licensed??? I have not heard anyone complain about my car, yet I have had complete strangers knock on my door to tell me they really like my car!

To make it worse, I went to move the car so I could cut my grass, and it wouldn't start. I have driven that car around the block twice a month since I got it, and the day they come enforce their stupid code, it won't start. They pissed off my car!!

Anyway, just needed to vent. If I had the money, I'd go buy the ugliest rust-bucket car I could find that I could license. Then I'd leave it parked in my yard. It makes no sense that I could have the ugliest, broke down POS with a license plate, but I can't park my cute little Beetle in my carport!

Yeha friend of mine was trying to give me a decent 3rd gen he jsut could not get licensed in time. Didn't have a motor in it, the motor was being worked on on the back porch he goes, want a free car its yours...

They were going to charge him a $1,000 fine. Car actually had good paint and was in good shape. He found a friend to take it.

I think the rule shoudl be that maybe you have a certain amount of time to get everything good on it and done.

Out of curiousity coudl you park it in your backyard?

Maybe consider contacting a news station?

          We have it here.

If the car is in the open, it must be registered.

If it is in the garage... what they don't see can't hurt you ;)

Samething here in Cali. We have a 57 Chevy on the driveway and a cop comes by and gives me one month to move it cuz it's not registered. So it got pushed back into the garage
it's not the fact that it's on the property, it has to do with people being able to see it. If it's out of site it's fine. Dupid!
