  • College guys part II: how do you study?

I stumbled across a rather strange conversation today as I was packing up my things. My 3 rommies were comparing thier class schedules for the upcoming semester, and sharing insight on the classes they had already taken.

They have a detailed little network. They keep all the tests from each class they took, and trade them off to eachother. For example: one guy already took intro to business, so he will give all of his completed tests and major coursework to the someone who is about to take the class.

If I had all of those tests, I probably would have gotten straight "A"s too.

What do you think: is this ethical or not?

I barrow old tests and lend old tests all the time. Since hardly any college professor would be dumb enough to use an identical test from one quarter to another, it isnt cheating at all. Infact many of my professors give out the test and worked out answers from the previous quarter as review material

I borrowed an old test once and used it to review. The test turned out to be identical. I was astounded. my roomies do it all the time, with the same teachers, so I think they do have the cut-and-dried answers to the tests.

Same here. I do no studying at home. Just the few minutes before the test is handed out, I browse through the notes and the book.

I try to, but always end up getting distracted. I just cram it all in right before the actual test.

So much emphasis is put on what you learned in class, that I feel that there's no use for studying, and that whatever the teacher said in class is good enough......Aside from that

As one of my goals for next sememster which includes Genetics, Organic Chemistry, Labs in both, and 2 Criminal Justices classes, I'm going to FINALLY do what my fav professor taught me......go over notes after class and before next class, and make thorough notecards (a LOT of people don't know how to make notecards-but that's too long to discuss).....plus...study EVERYDAY.

I do that too, but learned that doesn't work now that I'm not a freshman anymore. I fugged up this past semester, I managed to bring my 3.4 GPA to a 2.9 overall...yeah I got a whopping 1.75gpa. I changed my major and I'm going to buckle down this term and force my self to study and do it at school because I simply can not do it. A friend, girlfriend or some other distraction will happen and I'll just blow it off.
