Seriously, I'm glad to say that I've been blessed to the point that I could afford a new BMW if I so choose. Yet I'm the happy owner of a 97 v6 with a twice-rolled-over odometer.
Hey Rhouse -- nice post. I enjoyed reading that. I am not the type who likes to pin point other drivers like this, or stereotype, but alot of BMW owners really do fit these descriptions and mindsets. I see these people at work (I work for a huge company with a multi level parking lot, so lots of different cars). At home when I get into the elevator with a BMW owner, or the owner of another expensive "elitist" car, they are usually the anti-social folk who have trouble cracking a smile or saying hello. They have their nose up in the air and don't quite like to associate with the folks that don't dress like them. I know this sounds crazy to some others, but dammit its true.
On an possibly related note, read the following article aout Porsche owners.

mmmm Carbon Metallic black M5
I don't notice the million people driving silver 3 series bimmers everyday to work, but I do notice the 17 year olds driving mercedes or bimmers because it irritates me (aka jealous).
I think a lot of the people don't care about how they drive just that they are a euro luxury sedan and its a status symbol. I drove the new 5 series and thought it was a piece of crap (not to mention they are ugly as sin now).

That's just too funny!!
Thanks for that link.

Well.... if this comment was at Mercedes (but I know it was to BMW) my response:

When I had the vette I could pick on ANY of them around here with absolutely no competition. I found it sad that they spent so much money on their cars (and yes, they thought they were fast...esp. that z4... ...nope )
