need money, where to get it??

OK, Im in a jam. I am going to college full time (more than twelve credits) and I need to get an apartment closer to school. I was living at Multnomah Bible College in the dorms while attending Portland Community College. I can no longer live at MBC because it cost to much and fuel cost around $150 a month to commute so all in all it costs me $970/month to stay there.

I am moving about 5 minutes away from PCC and found a rent for $531/month and all the stores are within walking distance so I can save fuel that way and not loose two hours in my day from driving. (FYI i get about 27mpg highway, but with traffic jams I get abut 17 cityish.)

I have $324 in the bank which is just enough to get my first month of rent. I am making jist cards(pieces of paper you give to several employers hopint they will call.) right now and will be picking up applications and giving this cards out tommorrow. I move in wednesday (the 12th I think)

I would try to get a cheaper apartment, but anything cheaper than this is low income houseing and fulltime students are restricted by the government, not allowing them to live in low income housing. Yeah I know try to get somewhere and the government kicks you in the teeth. AHHHH!!!!

Anyways. I am going to get a job as soon as I can and I called my dad and friends to have them save popcans for me. (portland gives $.05 a can to recycle) I am eating as cheap as possible. THe apartment needs 3times my rent a month as proof of my income so I can move in. With the amount I made this summer, which is gone, my dad will have to pitch in $931 a month. THe bad thing with that is that my dad doesnt have enough money to help me. He lives in northern washington where I worked during the break and should be getting around $400.

No money will be put into my car during this time and actually hasn't for a while except for headlights which will evertually help me save money and be safer on the road anyway.

I just need some ideas (besides working duh) that I can make or save money during this little while till I can get on my feet. Get rich($5) quick skeems* that work, if there any, would be greatly appreciated. I will be starting an ebay account and selling alot of my engine/camaro stuff real soon.

Ebay is a great idea. You'd be surprised how much of your stuff you could unload fairly well.

Have any stereo equipment/guitars/video games/computer stuff you don't need? This stuff is very easy to unload.

I need to get another 20 months in and I will be able to to get a real job with an Airline or something. Starts a $15/hr with all benifits promotions are great.

I dont want to quit school if I dont have too.

Apply at the apartments anyway. Explain to them that you're being funded for rent by your father. If they're deaperate for tennants they just might let you in. When I moved out I was making a little over twice my rent amount. I called and talked to the leasing office, and called, and called. After looking over my credit they finally said ok. I stayed there 3 years, left the place in damned near the same conditio. Hell, they gave me an excellent checkout rating (I even got away with my "regrouting" project in the bathroom. I pulled a chunk off tiles in the shower as water had leaked behind the tiles and turned the sheetrock to mush - leaning on a wall and having it slowly sink inward isn't as cool as it sounds).

Still, try - the worst that will happen is they tell you to piss off.

Have you tried borrowing from other relatives, or maybe selling a kidney? [img]tongue.gif[/img]

You can also try some odd jobs like painting, gardening, janitor work, or be a paperboy for a month.

No apt manager's going to turn away money because of a federal law i bet. I bought a pos trailer with a leaky roof to save money in college, 200$ a month rent. Look into getting some indescrite grants/scholarships out there, free money's always good.

I applied for FAFSA last year and got about $1800 for school. Never needed it 'cause the HOPE scholarships pays off my semester so i had $1800 to save for my move [img]smile.gif[/img]

Look if you can donate plasma locally, takes a little time to get going. But I hear its like $40 a trip, and you can go once a week. Helping lives and making money.

But on a serious now, how about donating blood/plasma. There is also the sperm bank. Try and do some little job that pays big, apply as a cashier at a grocery store. Less work then stock clerks, and they pay more.
