  • New door costs? Got hit this morning..

rying to find a spot at work this morning and some other guy rolls through a stop sign and smacks my driver's side door. At least one witness, plus UofA security filed an incident report.

Fiberglass is torn for about a foot, plus the rear quarter panel is bent up some.

Anyone have to repair something like this before? Just looking for an off-the cuff estimate on price.

Any recommendations on where to get it taken? Is the dealer any good for this kind of stuff, or should I go to an independant shop?

I bought a door, my color, with power window/lock for $50 at a junkyard.

But since its his fault, you shouldn't have to worry about how much anything costs.. given he has insurance.

Nake sure they line up the quarter panel when they fix it. When i had mine done, they left a 1/2 inch gap that i only noticed later. Now everytime i look at it i grimace.

Yes, I'm going to get it fixed right, just want to know general cost of that in case he wants to pay direct instead of going through claims..

dunno how honest of a guy you are but..... take it to some place that you know is gonna be kinda high price wise and turn their estimate over to his insurance or however it works... then when they cut you a check, find a cheaper place to fix it and keep the left over for yourself... lol im just waitin on somebody to hit me so i can try this out... i know several people that have done it and always come out a lot ahead in money... but like i said i dont know how honest of a guy you are...
