yeah and you said the wall was a waste of tax dollars. do you have any idea how much the panama canal cost and look at how much of a shorter distance it is. i guess you could be kidding but if not then my reason stands. i like the wall idea better. build a wall and move some of our damn alligators and water maccasans over to the rio. better yet make the wall out of metal and electrify the bastard. this would all be cheaper than another canal.

1 wall let's say 3 billion to make at 6ft high. How high and wide do we go? Do we build it back from the border, or on the border? Back from the border and we need gaurds on top of the wall and in front of the wall. Why? You can't just shoot someone for standing on us soil, and by the time you get down from the wall, they're back on Mexican soil. Don't forget about electricity along the whole wall. Why? We need lights don't we, or what's the point of making an easily scalable wall. How thick do you go, because it's easy to tunnel under the wall, especially if you're not going to gaurd it and put up lights. What's going to be the upkeep on this wall? When a Mexican gets pissed and rams the wall, we have to come back, patch, and clean up that area.
1 Canal costs lets say 10 billion to make. Ok, we turn it into a toll canal. Charge little. There's some upkeep costs. What are mexicans going to do? Fill the damned thing up? They have to swim or raft across. Big deal, pretty easy to see on a wide open river. How do we maintain a canal.... hmmm... well, we might have to fill it up? No I don't think so.
So no, I am not kidding. </font>
The Panama Canal is 80 Kilometers and cost over $400,000,000 to build in 1914.
The Mexican/American border is about 1200 Kilometers long.
In 1914 it would have cost 6 trillion dollars to build the canal on the border at an average cost of 5 million/kilometer. That was 90 years ago.
Please tell me you are joking.
