Ok, let's figure this out...
1 wall let's say 3 billion to make at 6ft high. How high and wide do we go? Do we build it back from the border, or on the border? Back from the border and we need gaurds on top of the wall and in front of the wall. Why? You can't just shoot someone for standing on us soil, and by the time you get down from the wall, they're back on Mexican soil. Don't forget about electricity along the whole wall. Why? We need lights don't we, or what's the point of making an easily scalable wall. How thick do you go, because it's easy to tunnel under the wall, especially if you're not going to gaurd it and put up lights. What's going to be the upkeep on this wall? When a Mexican gets pissed and rams the wall, we have to come back, patch, and clean up that area.

1 Canal costs lets say 10 billion to make. Ok, we turn it into a toll canal. Charge little. There's some upkeep costs. What are mexicans going to do? Fill the damned thing up? They have to swim or raft across. Big deal, pretty easy to see on a wide open river. How do we maintain a canal.... hmmm... well, we might have to fill it up? No I don't think so.

So no, I am not kidding.
</font>
The Panama Canal is 80 Kilometers and cost over $400,000,000 to build in 1914.

The Mexican/American border is about 1200 Kilometers long.

In 1914 it would have cost 6 trillion dollars to build the canal on the border at an average cost of 5 million/kilometer. That was 90 years ago.

Please tell me you are joking.

OVERANALYZATION

we arent going to build a wall or a canal. i have a good idea, a laser field that is patrolled 24/7 by sattelites. if anyone comes over the border a motion detector sets off a huge laser grid that is similar to the one who chopped up that one dude from resident evil when he tried to open the room that controls that evil computer thing. except it comes from space so you cant escape it.

we are amercans goddam it! we beleive in the easy way out, which is to employ only a few people to patrol an entire border. this is how it will continue to be (though i like the electric wall (sniff sniff, cooked border jumper... maybe i dont like this idea). anyway family guy is on so im out.

A twenty foot wall. Hmmmmm, tunnel under it. How about pulling the troops out of Iraq and Afghanistan and putting them on border patrol?

Or how about the next time Fox meets with George to ask for open borders George grows a pair and says NO. And ships every illegal alien home and natinonlizes every business that employs them.

hahaha i bet this country would collapse in an eye blink w/o any immigrants.

You would be SURPRISED how many compines i know employ immigrants, not just small businesses but i know companys that make millions in profits and they have immigrant workers.

3/4 of the farmers and field workers here in california are immigrants. i dont like it, but the fact is they do the jobs we wouldnt, and california's economy has them to thank. that's why arnold and george havent and wont do anything about it.

And at the same time, they drive the payrates of millions of Americans into the ground since companies know that the illegal immigrants will work for peanuts. Does anyone know what the penalty for a business is if that business is caught employing illegal immigrants?
