• good pda?

my buddies girlfriend came to me looking for advice on what PDA to her boyfirend for Christmas.
So I figured I'd post here and see if anyone has one they love and can't live without, or wants one so bad they can taste it
budget of $300 or less
He and I are opening a business together too, so good features are important.
Thanks!

here are some I looked up
this is a cheap one, prob bottom of the list, but seems to be nice still

A palm pilot is a definate must have. Especially if you guys are opening up a business. Or perhaps a fancier cell phone.

For me, I would like to have another laptop.

Palm is the company that makes what was originally the Palm Pilot, but that name hasn't been officially used in a few years.

Palm's have come a long way, but I've been using Windows CE, (now Pocket PC) since around 98-99 and I've always thought it had more capabilities. Back when Palm just was coming out with a low quality color screen I had a Pocket Windows computer that could play MP3's and access the Internet.

Palm's come a long ways, but if you want something closer to a full computer with organizer capabilities Pocket PC's are going to be the best option. If you're looking for something closer to an organizer with some more advanced functions Palm isn't bad.

It's been a while since I've been up on the new ones, but look at Toshiba, HP/Compaq, Dell, and I think Viewsonic makes them too.

awesome,
what I am looking for is some specific models that people have used and know that they are good
I've read a few reviews on cnet and consumers guide and am getting some decent info, I was just hoping for some reviews from a source that i know for sure wouldnt just be paid off to give a good review

I used a Palm Tungsten (don't remember what model, but it was on the lower end). It held up well and the battery had a pretty good life. I also put it in the dock every night so unless it was with me on a weekend away it was always being charged. It worked well and was simple to use. I have used my mom's that was newer and I didn't like it as much because they switched over to a new style grafiti and I prefered the old one.

What are you going to be using it for? Just a simple organizer to go?

its not for me its for my buddy, but im sure he will want alot of features on it. It will be used for business and personal, so looking for a good mix, but not too expensive.

I have a HP rx3715, its pocket pc windows based, and may have a few more features than you need such as the camera, bluetooth, and wifi, but it was also 500$ I use all of these features and to have them all in one was great, Im so far very satisfied with it, HP makes models with less crap on it I guess you could say, that are more for the business enthusiest, I have the orignal palm pilot and hate it, the functions are very limited, unlike the pocketpc where it can be updated again and again, however if you want to go with the cellphone/pda combo check the wireless carrier, everyone's got one now. that may be the way to go...because I know I hate carying my pda around with me, so I bought a windows mobile phone for appointments and such.

I used a Palm m500 for a couple of years. I bought my girlfriend a Palm Zire 31 last year, and myself a Treo 600. Both are very capable PDAs. The Treo is also a cellphone, but not a very great one.
