• Still picture from video

How does a person take a still shot from a video using Windows XP home? I usually play videos on Windows Media Player. Do I have to switch players? If so to what and then what do I do?

You used to be able to just take a Screen Shot, but I think only certain codecs will do that.

I know you can use WinDVD to take a screen capture of the movie, I think I have it if you want it.

Thanks Josh, I should have known you'd come thru.
But I have the video on my hard drive, will WINDVD still play it? If so, and if you can email it, I'll take it. If not I can try to get it off the net.
On media player, I paused the video and right clicked but it didn't give the option and I didn't see it in the header bar.

Press print screen, go into paint and press control V. Then crop the image as you like.

If you import the video to window movie maker, go to the scene you want to take a screenshot of...Pause it and below the video screen there will be a button that says screenshot...Click it, Save it and go to your desktop and open it.

I know...

Get the latest ATI file player (version 9.3)
Its bundled with the ATI multimedia center and you can download it for free at their website. Just play the video and click the snapshop button and it instantly saves it to the folder you want. I'm not sure if it will work if you dont have an ATI graphics card, but you should give it a try it works for me ;)
