  • So.. I was scammed online, who wants to help?

So I bought a center console on July 31st... Paid for it.. They said how much shipping was and it would be on its way.... I wait a week.. Week and a half -- nothing... Call em, they say it was shipped "yesterday", okay -- wait another week or so.. Nothing.. Call em back, he says he'll figure out wtf is going on (this is the sellers dad I keep talking too) and have it shipped or my money sent back.. Tells me to call back in a week or so if I dont get it.. Call back, he says he'll send me a money order himself. I should get it.. That was 2 weeks ago I was supposed to get my money, since then he has stopped picking up the phone when I call. Any ideas?

block your number and call again. You know the address. Mail a letter threatening legal action.

Feel free to post the #.

Threatning with legal action is good too. A company owed me ~$650 and they wouldn't pay up. I threatened to get a lawyer and I now have a check in the mail.

It scares people to have to go to court. It's a shame it has to get that far, but unfortunately it's the best way to get a response out of them.

If you ever want to see that money again DO NOT POST THEIR NUMBER on the internet. Showing up at their front door probably won't get anything accomplished either. Your best bet is to contact his local PD and file a complaint complaint against him. Then, from there you can proceed with legal action. It wouldn't look too good in court for them to be able to claim that you initited and invited harassing and threatening phone calls and letters to his home.

I don't think contacting the seller's local police dept is going to get much results though. The police will likely push this back and say they don't get involved in business matters.

If the buyer paid the seller using PayPal, he can simply open a PayPal complaint and eventually he WILL get his money back. PayPal will revoke the payment, and its not a very hard process to complete. At the very least, if the seller does not have funds in their account to cover the forced refund, PayPal will lock them out of their account until they resolve this matter. So you definitely have the option and ability to cause the seller some grief by locking them out of PayPal. This is why I like PayPal and I always use it when selling and buying, especially on eBay.

Used paypal. Paypal ruled in my favor. Paypal only gave me $15 and said get the rest yourself.

Theft/fraud isn't a business matter. Paypal, on the other hand, doesn't care about anything but the fee they got from you and won't do anything but take out what money may be left in this guys account, usually nothing if he has a brain. Paypal is a *****, and will not get your money back. The police will make him pay up or go to jail. Believe me, I've been through this before.
