First they decide to cut the celica and the MR-2, the only two "sports" cars they had left. After 2005 both cars will be cut. They say theyre doing it to concentrate on the profitable sedan, truck, and suv market.
Now they got these dumb new commercials: "save truck beds" with the woman saying for the price of 3 coffees a day you can save a truck bed.
I know who wont be getting a toyota, ever! => me
My buddy just got a new 2004 X-runner, and from what ive heard, the thing hauls pretty good for a truck.
He also has a 2003 Tundra V8 with the TRD supercharger on it, and that thing hauls ***!
My dad has a 1996 4runner with 140,000 miles on it, looks mint, and he has changed the oil like 4 times i think. Never a problem, and he doesnt maintain the thing for $hit.
I have heard of this guy getting 450k miles out of his toyota ! I dont paticularly like the styling of them , but I have NEVER heard of ANYONE having problems with them !!!
I am actually thinking of getting a Scion SUV when I get out of school b/c its cheap and I need something to haul my paintings and sculptures around with . I also need something to put wood and metal in from Home Depot . YEAH , I KNOW , they are ugly , actually they are just a box on wheels , but its cheap and different , and its got that toyota engine in it . I WILL KEEP my camaro !!!!! ;)

Only non-full size truck I've ever seen that was 1-ton.
I've heard rumors they plan to bring the Supra back in 06 or 07.

Actually, the Tundra is a slap in the face for domestics and a much-needed one at that. GM, Ford, and Chevy trucks had been seriously sucking in the late 90's... then out of nowhere in model year 2000 comes the Tundra, Japan's first mass-produced V8, and it sells like hotcakes.
Notice the Big Three domestics all of a sudden scrambled and went back to the drawing board in 2001 and 2002? They had become so comfortable in their redneck-catering market base that they didn't bother making a product of real quality. Tundra changed that. In fact, Tundra's success was so profound that Nissan followed suit and in 2004 introduced the Titan.
Competition breeds quality... and when domestics completely own a market share, quality sucks. Import competition forces domestics to get their **** together.
The Tundra is a fantastic full-size truck. Incredible reliability ratings, great power-to-weight ratio, available 6-speed manual, excellent crash safety, torquey enough to haul a 4-horse trailer. Granted, if you're towing a moving truck or some other industrial type of equipment then yes, you'll want a domestic turbo diesel crew cab dualie... but for the majority of consumers in the market for base-line trucks (F-150, Silverado, Ram 1500) Tundra is a very attractive alternative. Its here to stay.
Also, what was that about Toyota trucks in general sucking? The T-100 (aka Tacoma) has been a 4x4 champion for decades. The rivalry is Jeep vs. 'yota. No serious off-roader would even think of anything else. There is no other truck out there that's easier to jack up and swap engines with than the Tacoma. You bring me your overweight, overpriced, fat cow jacked up Dodge... and I'll blow it away in any offroad competition with a T-100. That and it'll run 500,000 miles with an oil change every five years or so while your Dodge/Chevy/Ford falls apart after 100k.

Actually, Toyota's stock is doing extremely well and the company has among the highest Earnings Per Share of any auto manufacturer. Toyota pioneered lean manufacturing techniques in the 80's and has since been a continuing leader in quality, sales, and profitability. Their profit margin is many, many times higher than GM (who happens to be the LEAST profitable on a per-unit basis of any automaker in history--GM is just a big bloated wasteful corporation, no better than the damn Federal government).
MR-2 and Celica were not profitable so they were cut. Supra was not profitable so it was cut (who would buy a Supra when for the same price you could get the prestige of a Corvette?).
Toyota is in the car business to make money, not to please people who complain about their lack of a sports car division.
And yes, for the record, my Corolla was built in Ohio.
And before you naysayers ***** and say "that's nice but the profits go back to Japan", that's not true either. Who owns Toyota? It is a PUBLICLY-TRADED company on the New York Stock Exchange (ticker: TM). It is a "Japanese" company owned by AMERICAN investors with factories in AMERICA.
Toyota is no longer an import. At least Toyota builds their cars here in the U.S. GM builds theirs in Mexico.
Hey guys. For starters I’ve always been a big car guy, I love all types of cars and can appreciate all types of engineering. I’ve always been a Chevy...
Hello every one, ozzy here ive been looking at this page for weeks now finally joined. So my question is why is it that every turbo build forum just ends...
