Yeah , its gotta be the stupidist car commercial I have seen in awhile ! ;) </font>
Wasn't it Toyota that had those commercials where you can't kill their truck. Like the one where the girlfriend is like, "You love your truck more than me! Fine!" And she has it pushed off a cliff, and it lands at the bottom totally fine. Lol, now those were good commercials.

    And its sad to see the Import trucks getting ready to take over the only market the American designed vehicles dominated in. It killed me to read in Motor Trend how the Tundra was, truck of the year, or best off road truck, or something to that effect. Get your act together Dodge, Ford and Chevy! Take that as your early warning from Japan.

      My buddy's toyota tacoma extended cab goes VERY low 12's on stock internals. Thats just as fast as Shane's supra.

      Tacoma's are the best of what they are... Way better than ranger/s10/whatever else...

      You can't weight the entire quality of a truck on it's towing capacity. Durability, for instance should be a factor as well.

      Don't get me wrong, those chipped dodge deisels are badass!

          </font>
Trucks aren't for racing. What one guy did with a one Tacoma doesn't mean that all Toyota Tacomas are awesome trucks.

          You could strap a jet engine to the roof of a pinto and run 8's all day, but that doesn't mean it's a good car and every pinto is fast

          You weigh a truck's quiality on a number of things, and comfort, payload, and towing capability are top of the list.

          Trucks are for work. Light trucks are for light work, HD trucks are for heavy work. Choose accordingly. People (like me) who buy HD trucks because they work trucks hard and use them for what they were built for. We tow a lot of weight, haul a lot of weight, and nobody will ever sell us on a Jap truck because of that. Conversly, people who use a truck to go to home depot on the weekends and go fishing every now and then wouldn't or couldn't be sold on a 7,000lb 24' long dually truck.

            unless they are just a truck enthusiest like me.

            I dont haul anything other then the random large item thats too big to fit in the trunk of a car. However, my next truck is going to be a Dodge 3500 Cummins Turbo Diesel 4x4 w/ dualies and M6 transmission :cool:

              </font>
Good point. And theres the enthusiasts who like to take small trucks and make them fast (like that guy's Tacoma)

              But for people who WORK their trucks hard (like me) a Jap truck just won't do

                You guys are comparing apples to oranges. Oooooh, the tacoma cant hold its towing capacity with a 3500 Turbo Deisel.

                No ****, its designed to compete with the entry level pickups, which it does, and dominates.

                  The import trucks don't get better gas mileage over the American trucks. GM even offers hybrids if you want better than that.

                    how do you figure it dominates?

                    the dodge dakota is a much nicer than the tacoma and has an optional v8 (only one in class)

                    even the chevy colorado gmc canyon are both much nicer trucks than the the tacoma

                    and the tundra, which is the truck that was originally brought up in this thread, competes w/ Ram, Silverado, Sierra, and F150, and the tundra comes no where near dominating. F150 is the most sold truck in the world.

                          What kind of diesel will this Jap truck have....BTW anyone who even considers a Powerstroke engine should be shot in the head. Powerstroke sucks. Wait till you hit 100k in those things, and you are replacing injectors.
