  • I am ashamed to be an American

While driving through Frederick, Maryland today, I saw something that made me ashamed to be an American.

On the shoulder of I-270, there was a police car giving a Pontiac Grand Prix a ticket. The police car was a Nissan Maxima. It was an unmarked car, but it had cop lights in the rear window, and strobe taillights, headlights, etc...

WTF kind of ****ed up country do we live in where our own government purchases imported cars, instead of domestic ones? It makes me sick to my stomach to see such tyranny. I wanted to pull over and beat that cops ***, but I knew that would be the end of me.

If an import ever tries to pull me over, I am not going to obey. It will turn into a high speed chase. I refuse to get a citation from a cop in a foreign car. If I am gonna pull over to get a ticket from an AMerican cop, he had better be chasing me in an American car.

hey, it's a global economy. nissans are made in mississippi, georgia, and one other state i think.

not ALL of the taxes and profit stays in the u.s., but neither does that of GM, and especially not chrysler or ford.

Um..... there are MANY undercover police cars out there that have been impounded from drug seizures.... to other crimes....

We have turbo VW's here.... bronco, impala, crown vic's... some ford pick up truck... and the list goes on

Makes perfect sense to "recycle" that car and makes a KILLER sleeper car for police!

They gotta get sneakier!!! Can't fault them for that!

If it was a repo or an impound, I guess I can understand.

I still would be mad about being pulled over by an import, though.

I've heard of Colorado getting an EVO and STi for the snow. But official police cars come from the factory such as the Camaro cop car with the B4C (i think) police package. At least they use too. I guess if they department is low on cash or just has the car, they can convert it into a cop car.

Let me ask you a question......are you really dumb enough to believe your car is an american car? If so, pull out a few of the parts and look at the labels to see where they were made. I'll lay odds it's either canada or mexico.

Yep, Van Nuys stopped cranking out f-bodies in early 1992 I believe and that was the end of American made f-cars.

That maxima may have been made by more american workers then your camaro was...

and like said their are tons of drug repos, and such, there have been times in south florida that there were exotics like lambo, ferraris, and porches before...

i am not overly fond of the argument that 'import' vehicles employ american workers. yes, cars built in america employ american workers. however, profits go back to the parent company. some of the profits go into the american economy. some dont.

none the less, undercover imports is a good idea. i would never suspect it.

I am sorry that you ashamed to be an American.

Perhaps there is a country somewhere that you can be proud of my friend.

I have seen Elements as Sheriff cars here in the Cincy area. Have seen Malibu's/Impalas/Crown Vic's as police cars also. A cop car is a cop car no matter what kind of car they are driving.

I'm currently attending college on my way to earning a degree in criminal justice and all I can say is police officers are doing there job keeping YOU safe because it is what they are paid to do. They do their job whether their car is an import or domestic and it shouldn't make you ashamed to live in America for a minuscule reason like what type of police car you are stopped with. If you don't like the country you are in then get out. And always remember that you can't out-run a police officer's radio.
