13.9 is off ;) MotorTrend ran their 05 Mustang GT automatic at a 13.5 and 13.6 --- so with a good driver you're looking at a low 13 car with an automatic, making room for even more improvement with the manual transmission

I would buy a Mustang over any GM car right now I think, Corvette aside.

I'm still bitter they killed the Firebird and Camaro, and taken aback at the excuse of a car they released with a classic American name and an Australian Body.

GTO? No...it may perform like a GTO, but it's Australian, don't let anyone tell you otherwise.

Pontiac and Chevy have yet to manufacture a car in the last three years that could shine where the Camaro and Firebird fell.

And I'm willing to bet the new Camaro is going to be no more attractive than their newer cars.

I have heard they are 13.5-13.7 but the ones I saw at the track in person were mid 14s to low 15s trapping at 97-99 mph...

obviously not good runs but the traps...

I might keep an eye on the price of used 99-04 GTs I am sure they will start to drop

So far I've seen two dark red Gt's and one white V6. They've been driven by women so far.

Well since the late 80's, the Mustang has been Ford's hottest seller. I think this one would be too. I personally don't like the style, and neither do I like the style of the new vette.

I guess I'm too picky.

I drive a Dodge and a Chevy, parents have a mercury(owned by ford) and a ford truck, and sister has a Saturn.

Just b/c you have a car made by one company doesnt mean you owe them your loyalty. What has GM done for us? Discontinued the fbody, why should we be loyal to them when they dont care what we want?

I'd take a GTO instead of a new GT in a heartbeat.

LS FUN! vs GT DOH!

I can't wait to pick on them at the track. :D

</font>
I couldn't agree more. Even though right now I have a 2000 Grand Am GT and a 99 Firebird, I used to have a 97 Intrepid ES that I loved to death; so few problems.

I would owe my loyalty to a car company that listens to what its customers want, rather than trying to provide for bigger and better, because lets face it, the GTO's reintroduction was lack-luster.

It seems Pontiac for the most part, is destroying their line up, slowly discontinuing every single car that's put food on their table in the last 35-40 years, and replacing them with european looking bores.

Granted, the cars may look good, but what abotu those who want a car that REALLY stands out. I see GTO's all the time, and I don't even think to turn my head; they liook like a G6 and they really aren't all that appealing to the eye, not when compared to a 4th generation Camaro or Firebird.

My alliegience is where the company listens to consumers.

My family pretty much drives GM but recently going over to the dodge/chysler side.

When I can have any NEW car under $30k, only thing I woudl get GM and its loosesly related is an STi

The first part reminds me of the Valet ads run back in the 80's. Ford went to town on the fact that all the GM 4 doors looked the same. It got so bad that GM's chairman called Ford's chairman and persuaded them to stop running it.

The second part? Yes, that should be where it goes.

As far as cancelling F-bodys. The reason is simple. The sales went down the tubes. If they sold like Mustangs I could buy a 2005 Camaro instead of a Mustang next year.

Your friend is retarded for spending that much. Seriously. He could have:

- waited a few months and saved thousands
- purchased a used 03/04 Cobra and had money left over (a brand new 04 Cobra can be had for $32000)
- bought a new GTO (dealerships here can't sell them at MSRP and are slashing prices)

Anyway, I hope he enjoys the car...
