  • I quit smoking

Well after about 6 years of smoking, I have stopped. I haven't smoked in about 36 hours now and I dont want/need a cig! I have tired before but, I would give in within a few hours, I have turned down all the smokes at work and everything. I did this cold turkey and to my suprise it has worked.

I quit and I found the patches work really great. Unfortunately due to some stress in my life I had to light up, now I am smoking more than ever :(

Excellent. If you've gotten through 36 hours, you're over the most serious part of the physical addiction. Now you can start challenging your triggers and eliminating them one by one. I've been nicotine free for over four months now, and I had convinced myself that I couldn't do it, so I know you can. Keep it up.

Some people can do it cold turkey, everyone is different, but I've said it before, here, and I'll say it again. For anyone who has quit and failed over and over, Zyban/Wellbutrin is a miracle drug. I must have tried to quit 20 times over the last three years, and I failed cold turkey, using the patch, and nicotine gum. I started taking Wellbutrin, and after three weeks of taking it I started to notice that I didn't even want to smoke anymore. The cravings were just gone. I'd light up and the cigarette wouldn't do anything for me, other than make me feel ill.

awesome.. you know what i did... I got a girlfriend that doesnt smoke. she is a wonderful girl and great motivation. Also you know what helps. dont think about it, and if you do, just tell yourself you dont smoke. Do something GOOD with the money you save, like lottery tickets.

It has been 4 days now since i have smoked one.. I almost lit one up the other day.. but instead i took a deep breath, told myself that i dont smoke and broke the cig in half. and it felt great. Cause smoking is a nasty and very unattractive habit.

congrats for you man, we'll throw a party together.
