  • Opinions about calling a potential employer back

I had an interview last thursday with a potential employer that went extremely well. They wanted to get me back in for a second interview, but they never said if I should call and schedule or if they would call me...

I have a friend that is pretty high up in the company so I'm pretty sure I have the job, judging by the way the first interview went. I faxed my friend my resume to give to the HR lady, and he was suppose to get back with me. He never called me back, so I ended up calling and talked to her myself. (This was before the first interview) She seemed anxious to meet me, and wanted to scheduled my interview as soon as possible.

So how long should I wait for them to call me before I call them? I've heard differing opinions on the matter, not to call too soon because you seem overly ambitious. But I've also heard it's never too soon to call back because it shows strong motivation.

I wouldnt call the next day, but I'd do it w/in a week.

Jobs and girls are different, dont call the girl to soon, but you dont want to wait to long for a job or you seem like its not important to you.

If it was me, I'd wait 3 days and then call.

Its been almost a week - give the lady a call "thanking her for the interview" and asking if there is anything else she thought of she wanted to know.

Grigory's advice is very sound for two reasons:

1 - Always do a follow up. It's polite and shows a high level pf professionalism.

2 - In your case, it gives you an excuse to contact the potential employer.

I was in a similar situation about 2 months ago. Company was dragging their feet. I waited about 1.5 weeks and found a reason to call. They were happy that I was so excited about the position and offered the job. Too bad for them that my current employer offered to not only match the offer, but beat it!
