So anyways. Last weekend I went to WVU in Morgantown WV from WVUTech in Montgomery. Long drive, uphill almost all the way. I averaged around 2500-2600 RPMs (I think my torque convertor is about shot). Anywho, I filled up the tank with 380 miles on it before I headed back to Tech. I got 31.9 mpg with the RPMs that high. I'm proud of her...she did good.

Are you sure you did your math right? I pull 29-30 mpg straight highway, NO city. Thats with 3.08's in an auto with a good torque converter at 21-2200 RPM, new plugs, wires, filter and oil, not uphill at 64 mph.

P.S. 380 miles to a tank is 25 mpg.<a href=\"http://dpo.rpaisley.com/displayfile.do?file_id=11856&size=ORIGINAL\" target=\"_blank\">05 GTO</a><br /><a href=\"http://dpo.rpaisley.com/displayfile.do?file_id=2825&size=ORIGINAL\" target=\"_blank\">97 W68</a><br /><a href=\"http://dpo.rpai

I'll back him up. I routinely get mileage in the low 30's (31-33) with the cruise set at 80mph between Tucson and Phoenix.Drivetrain Moderator - "There are no stupid questions, only stupid people!"

^^^ Exactly, thats why I am always iffy to believe these claims. Im not saying you guys guestimated, but did you? Mine was based off a pump to pump basis with a reading right off the pump give or take a 1/4 gallon.<a href=\"http://dpo.rpaisley.com/displayfile.do?file_id=11856&size=ORIGINAL\" target=\"_blank\">05 GTO</a><br /><a href=\"http://dpo.rpaisley.com/displayfile.do?file_id=2825&size=ORIGINAL\" target=\"_blank\">97 W68</a><br /><a href=\"http://dpo.rpai

I can get in the low 30s if the trip is mostly highway then very limited city driving to get to my destination. Thats with reading the gallons from the pump and the miles on my trip odometer that I reset whenever I fill up.
Why you would want to go to Morgantown I don't know though.

Here's fuel for the fire. Some of you might have seen this before, but here are my past 200,000 miles worth of mileage data.

If you look at the mileage histogram chart, you can see three humps for the different types of driving I do. From the chart I've averaged roughly:
14-16 MPG for pure city driving,
20-23 MPG for mixed city/highway driving, and
26-31 MPH for straight Highway driving.1997 Camaro, Y87 Perf. Package, iRotor Drilled & Slotted Brakes, Bilstien Shocks, Custom drive shaft, K&N Filter, & Mobil 1 synthetic. 202+K miles and still drives like new.<br />-If you can\'t stomp \'em in the straights, kill \'em in the corners...

I've gotten up to 31 MPG on the highway.

Fill the tank all the way up, drive, then fill it all the way back up. That'll give you exactly how much gas you used, no guestimating.~Derrick <a href=\"http://www.appstate.edu/~do54457/\" target=\"_blank\"><i>My Webpage</i></a><br /><b>\'96 3.8L V6 M5 Firebird Y87</b> | <b>162.8 RWHP</b> / <b>196.7 RWTQ</b> <br /><b>•</b> SLP CAI <b>•</b> <a href=\"http://tech.firebirdv6.com/y87.html\" target=\"_blank\"><b>Y87</b> Package</a> - 3.23s <b>•</b> 180º thermo w/ fan switch <b>•</b> TB spacer from DEE<br />1991 Jeep Cherokee Laredo 4x4

Pump to pump. No estimates here. I went 380 miles on 11.89 gallons. I wasn't out of gas when I filled back up. I decided to go ahead since it was 25 cents cheaper up there. Anyways, I usually average 22-24 city/backroads. Maybe my TACH isn't reading right anymore, but DHP was showing the same readings too. Last time I checked full highway mileage, I got 27.5, but that was 3 years ago. And yep, filled the tank at a station just outside of the drag strip thursday night. Reset the trip meter, drove back to the apt, and then to Morgantown on Friday. Filled it back up on Sunday.~Chris<br />1999 Hugger Orange Camaro<br /> <a href=\"http://www.cardomain.com/ride/273836\" target=\"_blank\">http://www.cardomain.com/ride/273836</a> <br /><br />†…faith…hope

I know I average 250miles and require 14 gallons when I fill up. (needle just above empty) thats 18mpg all city.
The last highway trip I did in the bird ( over a year ago), I had already done the 3.42 gears and on purely highway driving, I got 31mpg. I just passed 440miles and filled up again with between 14.0 an 14.2 gallons. Thats 31mpg.\'01 Mineral Grey SVT Cobra<br />-former F-body owner
