I can't wait to take my t-top shades out... I take the t-tops off alot but for a few 5 min drives not going to the trouble. And I cannot leave the t-top shades out in the summer too damn hot.

you guys are babies. i have driven my in the winter twice with no problems. you people just need to learn that there is a time and place for using the gas pedal. around here though, we dont get snow, we get ice and slush. other than that few times, its racing season
now that i have the beater, i have my camaro in my back yard under a car cover. but i do take it out 1 or 2 times a week. matter of fact i have it out today. hehe! but i do plan on still taken her out at least once a week.

It's not that i'm a baby, it's that they salt the roads up here, and i prefer my car in the condition it's in, because the salt eats cars like crazy. I'll keep you guys posted as to the build...most of it's gonna be top secret except for a select few. You guys know what i've got now, i'm keepin it at that.

Winterize = drive a bit slower and keep the gas-tank full. I should throw some weight inthe back, but I didnt get around to that until about March last year. And I do drive the bird every day, any condition. PA just uses lots of sand. no salt.

so your car gets a constant sand blasting, getting it ready for a repaint, we just get old and rusty up here.

I bought my car on X-Mas '96 during an ice storm in Michigan (where I'm from). I drove it back to college in Boston after one of the worst blizzards in a century.
My point? Limited slip diffs rule!!
Get a good set of all-season, M+S, or winter tires and drop in a couple of sandbags if your rear end feels too light. I've never had to resort to the sandbags, but I did learn that Second Gear Start (SGS) can be your very good friend. My Pirelli P7000s were surprisingly good in even the worst weather (Running at a little higher psi helps a bit with snow traction), but I did have to be careful not to attempt to plow through snow that was too deep. (The low ground clearance meant the car would bottom out on deep, hard snow and take all the weight off the wheels leaving you with no traction.)
Lastly, fill the windshield wiper fluid reservior with de-icing wiper fluid (Prestone & Rain-X both make a good one) and you might consider putting a small shovel in the trunk to hep dig yourself out in case you get stuck.

this is a VERY good idea..will eliminate a lot of glare too..also..once i switched to an LSD with a good set of tires on the rear it was SOOOO much better..and i dont even add any weight..the only thing i keep in the back is the little shovel should i need it
i wish i was getting ready to winterize mine. but its not gonna be fixed. and im not old anough to drive yet anyway...sigh. my car is just a big tease. i do plan on driveing my car all year round. dont have a choice really. which sucks sence im getting the whole car repainted pretty soon.( i have to paint almost half the car now, so why not right? )

I usually drive my Firebird 'till end of November, unless it snows sooner; and bust out the '93 Sunbird for old man winter. I have to agree with xX315Xx, I know very well how to drive a rear drive car in the winter, but I want to keep mine shiny for a while. I had a '86 Firebird, drove it through 4 winters, and that rotted it with all the salt. (I HATE WINTER!!!)
I will still be driving a RWD car in the winter (with a bigger motor at that), so that isn't why I'm storing my car for the winter. Like xX315Xx said, the salt will eat up the car from all angles when you drive any car in the winter (at least here in upstate NY). I'm getting prepared for some lake effect snow later in the winter when the lake gets cold. It will be hell I tell ya.
