Sweet maybe I can buy some cheap craftsman tools on ebay... I want to get a decent set of screwdrives
I have had my craftsman tools for like 6 years, torn put them through tons of abuse, and only wrench to remotely even make me think it might break is the 1/4 stocket wrench but I have hooked an adapter up to it and used in with sockes at as big as 18MM and used a hammer to get the bolt loose and never broke.
Snap On may be better, but is it worth the price difference?
I doubt they will get rid of Craftsman. From what I heard, one result of the merger will be that Sears gets more clothes to sell, while K-mart gets more tools.
I highly doubt they will get rid of craftsman, the warrenty might chage for their tools that they make after the merger but it is too well know of a name for them to have any reason to get rid of it.

x2
I kinda doubt though that they would do away with the guarentee. That would be pretty bone headed of K-mart.

Problem I see is them down grading for cost. It wasn't that long ago that sears switch from American steel to Chinese powdered steel to make the tools. They did lose strength but kept the same warranty. I just hate to see what Kmart will do to cut cost even more.
If Sears bought Kmart I would not worry but its the other way around.

It may be a good time to dig around for any broken tools and exchange them quick. Before any policy changes happen. Like needing an original receipt. No more $20 yard sales sets traded in for new $100 tools sets, one at a time.

They can not get rid of the warranty for tools you already have, it would be illegal.

Screwed-over Customer: "I'd like to replace this broken ratchet."
Stupid-*** dork behind counter: "What?"
S-o C: "This ratchet broke and I'd like a replacement."
S-a d b c: "Do you have your sales receipt?"
S-o C: "Why do I need a sales receipt? This tool is 12 years old. And they have a lifetime warranty."
S-a d b c: "I'm sorry, but all exchanges and returns require a receipt."
S-o C: "This is a Craftsman tool. They have free lifetime replacement. I got it at Sears."
S-a d b c: "Sears? This is Kmart. Why would we carry Sears stuff? And why would you try to exchange a Sears tool at Kmart?"
S-o C: "Because Sears is now owned by Kmart. Is there a manager I can talk to?"
Clueless Manager Drone (in robotic monotone): "All returns must be boxed and shipped to our corporate offices with a receipt. If we deem the tool defective we will issue you a store credit."

If Kmart was trying to avoid bankruptcy, which they are nowhere near, they would not be paying 11 billion for Sears. </font>
You, uh, do know that KMart has already filed for bankruptcy previously, right?

Not much going on, replaced my Kenwood double din stereo with a Pioneer double din, the Kenwood had problems. Then replaced my power inverter for my reverse...
