Are there any 99 v6's with a 150 speedo stock? Now that I'm not driveing 200+ miles a day I'm looking at buying a Formula. I found one at a dealer online 50 miles from me that has a pic of the interior with a 150 speedo but the back end pic has Firebird above the hatch lock.

thats because formulas have the same look as the firebird, but with a V8 ;) So yes, they would need the V8 speedometer. You will not find a V6 with a stock 150mph speedometer because frankly, they dont go that fast stock (speed limiter/governor)

A lot of cars don't go as fast as their speedometers read...lol i think the Grand AM GT has a 150 mph speedo.

But yes, only V8 f-bodies have a 150 mph speedometer stock.

the formulas have a blank plack filler panel. there shouldnt be any writing on it at all. Either they previous owner swapped a 155mmph gauge cluster into a v6, or busted up the rear-end and replaced the filler panel w/ one from a v6.

easiest way to tell is to call the dealership and ask how many cylinders it has.

the only place it says formula on a formula is on the door panel.

The guy above me is wrong, it says firebird on the back filler panel and forumla only on the door panels. But it's not hard to tell it from a v6, just pop the hood and look for 2 more cylinders. ;)

It may on some of them, but never one that ive seen. They've always been solid black on the formulas.... no emblem or lettering.

My back panel is solid black, the letters have faded away . This may be why all the ones you've seen are solid black.

The 97 and eariler Formulas were plain black, with no lettering or bird. I know, as I have two plain centers in my garage. Not sure what was done 98+.

I've seen alot of both v6 birds, and formula firebirds both with, and without the lettering on the back. I really have no clue why some came with and some came without the lettering.

I think they letters just wear off. I buffed mine off and put on chrome ones.

the ones I saw werent just faded. Mine is faded, but you can still see the logo. The formulas I saw (they were all prior to 98 model year) definately did not have any lettering on them and I dont believe they were polished off, because the actual black portion had lost its luster as well.

They fade off... The guage cluster is a good tell tale sign but always remember it could have been swapped.

If the exhaust is stock though it is probably a formula.
