I held a union job once...and so glad I got out of it.

Some of the UAWs around here...especially the grocers, for a long time would actually not let people into the union. I wasn't exactly sure why. BUT, with the labor laws/standards in place by the government that the UAW was created for - IE, the union was formed for reasonable work conditions, but now is widely abused by higher ups, and government standards now make the union obsolete.

When I was working in construction environments, it would make me so upset to see the lack of effort put forth by union members - no wonder they can't bring younger folks in - they either won't go in, or they get laid off so early on.

in the last 20 years GM has gone form controling 50% of the market to barely 25%...
