I went to G9 (the fbody gathering in atlanta) this year and heard Scott Settlemire speak.
He merely said "keep the faith and I can promise you that we are working on an affordable, RWD car. We want to see events like the fbody gathering continue with NEW General Motors products."
he basically beat around the bush the best he could but insisted that we "keep the faith." However, we might have to keep that faith for who knows how many years. I have forgot about the fbody and when this one dies, this will be my last fbody. The only GM product I will buy will be a W-body or new GTO.-1999 Camaro Coupe 3800 Series II V6 A4 - SOLD
-1998 Pontiac Grand Prix GTP coupe

GM is hurtin' BIG TIME lately. Their sales are at an all-time low, and their selection blows! The new Vette is awesome, but only affordable to high-income, mid-life crisis dad's who are trying to impress 18-25 yr old girls who wouldn't even glance at them any other time besides their nice ride...most of the time anyways.
Screw GM! By the time the new f-body is introduced (if ever), the other markets will be laughing their a$$es off with all of their products and sales skyrocketing through the roof and GM will have to suffer yet another humiliation.
These are my honest thoughts. I could be wrong, but I doubt it.sigpic

i have hope that with in three years i hope it will come out. gm is hurting in sales they can't compete with the competition. I hate ford and the mustangs but one thing that I do like is the various models of the mustang they have. imagine the coupe, gt, bullit, cobra, saleen, and the new mach versions. That only in the mustang area!! Chevy should do that for the maro or firebird. Have like 6 different models

Chyrsler/dodge had the PT cruiser, 300C, SRT-4, and sort of the crossfire...
Ford had the new mustang, Focus, and sort of the lightening(older)
What did GM make...
Cobalt SS, only after they saw the SRT-4 success...
I think the SSR was supposed to leech on the PT cruiser crowd.
I guess the buick lacrosse is sort of cool and neet... might make them some bucks, but won't sell like "hotcakes"-Eric
2000 NBM V6 Camaro 5-speed T-top converted
14.467@95.45mph $0 in mods
The member formerly known as MustangEater8251

don't know, but it will most likely be back, as long as the mustang is being produced; same class car (mid-size, 2-dr, 4 seat sports coupe), same target demographic [customer] base.
GM is like the Rolling Stones, or U2; they're just going to have to reinvent themselves with the Camaro, and come back strong after a hiatus.

yeah, too bad Cadillac is laggin gbehind too. Comerocome back??? 30yrs. Dealw/it. Or maybe they can give it the Lumina treatment like the monte carlo. Chebby has a fear of changing nameplatesand will soon slap the comero nameplate on some p.o.s. and people will buy it. Not because it's quality, or really good, but because of the name comero.1978 Formula 461 in progress of being built

i am passionate about the camaros. to see nonthing sporty for the gm line up its just boring like my ex girlfriend. all gm has is the gto and the corvette. yet the corvette is out the way to much mula. Cobalt SS to be honest is to slow compare against the neon srt4. I am all Gm but their new product is like crap. how in the world they would make malibu ss, trailblazer ss, impala ss, and monte carlo ss before the maro. they took there time and work on new ideas for this line up. to see that gm doesn't even bother to create one

I've read these topics because it seems like a new one pops up once a week. Here's my input on this:
1: I've heard from many people that the camaro is still in the lineup for an 07-08 debut
2: It will be a rwd v8 car only with the possibility of bringing back z28 and ss nameplates
3: It may or may not be an f-body designation. from what I've heard it will be a subframe car but no word on whether or not gm will give it f-body standings.
4: Unfortunately no v6 is likely gm will probably just make the v8 because they already have v6 cars(grand am, grand prix, etc.) but there are rumors of a smaller rwd v6 car to see if there is any possibility of selling a cobalt sized rwd car(rumors of this being dubbed nova have also surfaced.
5: As for the rumors of 6 months ago that chevelle might return, never gonna happen. Gm won't do it because as with the camaro/firebird team thers no point in having the gto/chevelle lineup back out only one so it will be gto and camaro.
6: As can be deduced by 5 the firebird will most likely not return gm wants to focus on one car.
7: Last but not least, it has also been said that slp may get to do the ss camaro when it comes out no word yet on that being true or false.
Just thought I'd share. Oh yeah and my sources are mostly mid to upper level management at gm who have seen or heard ideas to get there stock back up. Gm wont die but it does need help with sales and they think that a new affordable rwd platform will do it.

GM stands for Goodbye Musclecar, lol. They should fire GM Vice Chairman Bob Lutz as well. I believe he is behind the killing of the F-body project.
