• High speed chase goes through my neighborhood, ends in bad crash! *PICS*

I heard the sirens, roaring engines and screeching tires so I ran out to see what was up.

They turned left onto my street 1/2 block down from me and went tearing down the street to the west (away from my house) with an unmarked cop car in persuit. They somehow made it through one of the stopsigned intersections, made it passed a busy park with dozens of kids playing, but when they got the busier intersection, the suspect crashed HARD! He hit a car going down the cross street, and he had to have been doing 50 mph. After the impact the suspect's car went out of control, took out a light post and dragged it for 50 feet and skidded through 3 yards (somehow avoiding trees) and came to a stop in front of the 3rd house in from the intersection.

By the time of the crash, they were out of sight, but I heard the whole thing and saw flying debris from where I was standing about 2 blocks away. So I grabbed my camera and got in my car and hauld *** down there..... I was there less than 2 minutes after it happened - it happened right across the street from a fire station so they were right on the scene. The passenger in the suspect's car went in an ambulance, but the the suspect and victim were uninjured. It's amazing nobody was killed.

... and without further adeu:

Oh man, why do people think they could out run the Police. That is just plain crazy.

I hate it when I hear innocent people getting killed by it and guess who they blame. The Police.

I see that stupid people breed in other states too...makes me feel a little better now! I thought that they only resided here in lower Southeastern PA.
He got caught...GOOD! Wait 'till he gets the bill for property and vehicle damage.

He does look like Kevin Bacon...heehee! I was wondering what happened to him.

Yeah but there is scientific evidence that says some people will automatically run for no reason whatsoever. Just the "fight or flight" instinct.

I do not agree with police chases, unless a serious crime has occured.

Hypothetical suspect, let's say these guys were running because they had a 1/2 ounce of pot. Then the wreck and kill an innocent driver.

Was it worth it??

Lets say the guy has 1/2 ounce of pot and the cop doesn't chase him. He smokes it later while driving and plows into a group of kids.... was it worth it?
Those kind of questions are really quite pointless.

</font>
Sorry but I really fell quite strongly about this. Sure hypothetical questions can be made for any argument. But I personally feel police pursuits pose a greater risk than the few petty arrests they gain.

IMHO, chases should be limited to extremely low traffic/low risk chases. If the people who are running start blowing through red lights, it's only a matter of time till theres a wreck.

I remember there being a few police officers on this board feel free to chime in.

it actually is highly debated when an officer should chase and when he should let the person go becasue its become unsafe to the public. i remember a news story where a guy being chased was headed towards an elementary school i think and the cops called off the chase but i guess they called it off too late cuz the guy kept speeding through the school zone and ran a kid over. it is unfortunate that sometimes there are unecessary deaths but people dont break the law because there are cops, there are cops because people break the law.

ive heard dane cooks stuff and he's hilarious

What's up with all these chases recently? This is like the fifth or sixth one that I've seen/heard of in the past week or two. At least nobody got hurt out of this
