• Moving to Arizona is becoming more of a reality

For years my wife and I have been discussing about moving out of Calif. Because of the cost of living is so high and we would like to look into having a family of our own. Since we can't seem to have any kids, we are looking to adopt and giving a couple unfornate kids a good home.

Now which state to move too we didn't know. We thought about Oregon at first. But then I mentioned Kansas because of the cost of living. But this year we set our hearts on Arizona.

I checked US News Report and they reported that Arizona is the second largest growth in jobs in the country. Florida was number 1 and Calif. was number 9 on the list. Oregon and Kansas wasn't even on it.

Well I submitted a couple of inquiries for jobs and immediately I got a call from Long Technical College saying that they plan on opening a dept. in their school where I might be needed. I asked them if they have anything for my wife and they said yes. Eventhough couples are not allowed to work on the same campus, she would be working on another campus as an Admission Rep. Her fluency in Spanish language would be greatly needed. They asked us to call in by mid-May just for an update. There is good chance that we may start working by early July.

I can't believe it. I'm planning on leaving Calif. The only state I have ever known. The only place I ever grew up in. I'm leaving behind all my families and memories. :(

Oh well, I'm not going to miss Arnie that's for sure.

Kansas is cheap living. If you can get used to the weather its great. There is stuff to do. The schools are great. Just dont live here to long. I am ready to get the hell out. I DEFF wont go instate for college. If your raising a family this place is great. Otherwise it sucks.

Jobs around here.. I dunno, im 17. heh.

    Thats my 2cents for Kansas.

Don't come to AZ. There's too many newbies already coming here J/K

Arizona is OK. I have no reason not to like it since I haven't been anywhere else. The heat sucks, but it's not much better in Cali I'm guessing. I'm not sure how many teaching jobs are available here, but it sounds like thats what you're interested in.

I think they're counting illegal aliens in that job total.

DONT move to florida. We have enough transplants...and the traffic in the cities where those jobs are is HORRENDOUS.

Good luck in AZ though, my uncle lived in Tucson, I loved the weather there, nice dry heat. I hate the cold, so AZ is nice and hot all the time.

I never thought of that. Very possible. Either way, it's growing. Not that I'm happy the illegals are here.

Don't say "AZ" when you mean Phoenix.

AZ is NOT hot. The southern 1/3 - Phoenix and Tucson is hot. The middle 1/3 - Prescott and Payson are perfect. The northern 1/3 - Flagstaff is cold. Flagstaff gets more snow than Milwaukee. Which is why we love the state. Don't like the weather, drive 2 hours.

Good luck with the move - what city are you looking at?

Tucson's a pretty nice place, I've liked my 5 years here, moving from New England and the Northeast.

As far as getting family goes, just keep an eye on school districts - there's a very wide variety of quality here. Of course, I feel parents and the kid make more difference than any teacher can have.

Flagstaff is awesome though, went there a month or two ago. I don't know if I would like the snow as much if I lived there though.
