Why do people still use carburated engines? It seems like every huge horsepower engine at race tracks have a carb, why? Isnt fuel injection better?

They're much simpler since there's only the carb...no PCM, wiring harness, oxygen sensors, etc.

They're also easier to tune. You don't have to use a computer to adjust fuel and spark tables.

      Fuel injection is more expensive.

yep, fi is way more expensive, carb'd engines are easy to work on, tune, repair, and they make plenty of power.

also, a lot of the project cars people uy today originally had carb'd eigines.

          what they sed

and fi is better for efficiency in the sense it can vaporize gas better and get better economy

You'll see a lot of off-road guys going to FI due to the fact it can run upside down (aka climbing a steep hill). Carbs starve out on most steep inclines and can cause your engine to stall. BAD NEWS for your brakes when going down a 45 degree rock face!

But like the others said, carbs are less efficient, but easier to tune & tweak.
