Ok well me my roommate my girl and his girl are all headed up into the mountains yesterday to go shooting and four wheeling. Well were taking a back highway because it is a straight shot across. Well speed limit changes back and forth from 35 to 45 I'm cruisin along with the flow of traffic @ 45 mph. Well come up to where there doing some road construction and see the usual signs about road construction ok keep the speed the same I was doing 46 mph. Get down the road a little bit and theres 2 cops sitting on the side of the road don't think anything about it and come up on a 35 mph sign so I slow down after I had passed them and one of them pulls out and pulls me over and I'm like ya I thought it was a 45 till I saw the sign bla bla bla. Hes like ya you would have been fine if it was a 45 but its not its a 20. I'm like what wheres the sign? Hes like o its down there on the side of the highway. So I get a ticket for 26 mph over and court. I go down back to check it out they had like a 1/2 size speed limit sign down on the edge of the road where its not really in your line of sight. Now on the other side of the road they had put them up on poles where you see them with orange tape over the regular speed limit sign where it draws your attention. There is also multiple signs on the other side where there is only one on this side of the road. I kinda found it interesting that they were only on that side of the road also like they knew good and well people weren't gonna see where it was put. In the time that I got stopped and went back and looked @ where the sign was they had pulled over 2 other people for speeding. Ok I am done *****ing about it I will be calling my lawyer on it cause the way they set it up is total bull**** because its one of those deals all they are going for there is revenue and they knew that they can get away with it. Does anyone know the laws as far as construction zone signs?

That's not right... I think you could possibly get out of that if you knew how/the right people.. With that many signs, and then one little sign, there is now way on earth someone is going to pay attention.. especially in construction.Britni
94 Red Camaro
http://www.cardomain.com/ride/2051995
AIM: CamaroGirly94
Yahoo: UMakeMeWannaLaLa05
E-Mail: love3doorsdown0@lycos.com

Ryan, if they tagged you with a laser you're gonna look like a fool in court. Not trying to piss in your cheerios but it's a fact. Definately get pics of all the speed limit signs (leading up to the offending dinky little one). I do agree with you that CO sucks with all the construction that goes nowhere and pulling people over when there are no workers present, but you know how that goes. Good luck in court.Check out my stable of supercharged W-Bodies HERE
\'97 Pontiac GP GTP Coupe
\'98 Regal GS | L67 3800 Series II

Laser actually has not been accepted by most courts, and there's actuall case ruling on this. As far as radar, there's setup questions in an entrapment of their own. If you want, Ryan, I could send you the cases and also a few "insight" notes. Just hit me up with an email. I got pulled over going 10 over the limit and I changed lanes without a signal... It was on campus on a day campus was closed for the semester so it was dead empty.-Eric
2000 NBM V6 Camaro 5-speed T-top converted
14.467@95.45mph $0 in mods
The member formerly known as MustangEater8251

Every state is different, but in Florida, many people have gotten off in the type of situation you described. The essence of the defense is that the state department of Transportation has regulations or guidelines as to what types, fonts, sizes, sign spacing, placement along road, etc a traffic control sign is supposed to have.
If the defendent goes to court and points out (probably need to take pictures, make measurements, etc) to the court that the traffic control sign did not mee tthe state-mandated requirements, the court likely will dismiss the infraction.
As an example, Orlando International Airport used to have these little residential-type speed limit signs on the entrance highway. Police were ticketing people, but someone challenged it, got thier ticket thrown out and then a bunch of other people did exactly the same thing.
Also, in Florida construction zones, the speed limit changes have to be marked in advance, using full-size signs with the full size, normal font.
But I'm not a lawyer, so don't quote me when a cop gives you a ticket. :DI solemnly swear I am up to no good.
