what I worry about is teenagers getting their hands on stun guns (similar to paintball guns) and running around videotaping people getting zapped cuz it would be funny

That can happen with anything. They can even get guns and shoot up their school, but that doesn't mean we should ban guns. Dumbass teens are gonna do dumbass things, hopefully the police will catch them and deal with it accordingly (ie, taser them [img]tongue.gif[/img] ).

Yea, but the difference is that Tasers are supposed to be non-lethal. If you fire a gun at someone, chances are its your intention to kill them. If some dumb teenager fires a taser at someone, chances are they think its just a joke and dont realize it could result in death, because thats what they are advertised to do, take someone out without killing them.

It's the exact same thing as paintball guns. I know it happens, but I don't see any reason to ban them because of a few ****head kids. We'll just have to rely on the police to catch those who do it.

And if it does kill someone, charge the kid with murder and send him to the electric chair.

lol..i have to agree with all of 98Camaro3.8s opinions on this one..i think these obviously should be used for self defense ONLY..the problem with them is they dont KEEP someone down..once you let off the trigger they can get right back up and after you again..thats why personally im always armed with something where the chances of you dying would be more like that 85% :D ..but again..self defense/emergency ONLY

tazers have been available for allot longer than this article is concerned. I have almost bought one a few times, except for the fact that I wanted to find one with a 10 foot + range.

The risk is there, but this is not a new thing.

u ever been shot by one. Its not as easy to get up as you might think, every inch of your body hurts after u get hit, and it doesnt stop hurting for a while.

But you still get up.

Non-lethal...most of the time. There is always the risk of the person having a heart attack after getting zapped by one, BUT for others who survive, ask them if they would have rather gotten shot by a bullet. We've had one person die because of a tazer out of the hundreds that gotten zapped. Our fault?...yes. But the tazer was fired at him hoping to eliminate the chance of death. As for the excessivly high levels of drugs & alcohol that was in his system, I think he would have died no matter what the circumstances were. Oh, and he was attempting to walk into his home with a 8" knife in each hand to kill his family too...so he said.
But, it was OUR fault he died from a tazer...................................and the police were sued by his family................who were supposed to be hacked by him

They are criminals, if a cop chases you, and you run, I think the cop has every right and priviledge to reduce your rights from an average civilian to to the rights of a "child molesting, president assasinating, armed robbing, drug making using and selling chicken ****er"

YOu shouldn't have to run from the cops and if you have to run from them you deserved to be tazered.
