All I know is that Geico is a rip off, even for the government employees that they're supposedly in business for. Hey, just wondering, does insurance usually drop when you turn 21?

I havent updated the site in awhile, between working and everything else I haven't updated it in awhile.....

You're right, if insurance werent in my dad's name, I'd be screwed.. It would be 1500+ for an 18 year old. I wanted a mustang, and insurance was more than that for me.

And the fast I've driven in my car was 85... and that was on highway... So tech. No.. I mean year I go over the speed limit sometimes, but I am responsible with my driving.. I have never done doughnut.. never powerbraked.. And yes, I am aware my car isn't high horse-powered.. But in 1500 more $$ I will be buying and LT1....

well i have allstate

i told them about my mods and all they said was if you want use a "said vaule" for the car we change for that vaule.

My car is in my moms name and it's $96 per month if i put the car in my name only its $98 per month, i haven't yet cause i have to drive the car everyday and to change the title is PITA with me in florida so i'm going to wait till dec when the car is paid off then do it

and my said value is $16,000
I also got a discount for having great credit

the that rate they gave me all i had to do was sign the papers to put the car in my name. (witch where in ohio at the bank with the loan witch is why i'm waiting till the car is paid off)

Honestly I really don't get it why people complain about insurance rates. Yes, they can be high but you're most likely driving a high powered expensive car too. I can see why people get frustrated when they stay accident free and still pay pretty high rates, but car accidents are very very common. In order for the insurance company to make money, you have to pay for the other guys mistakes.
Also, I think almost all insurance companies take your premiums and invests them into different markets. They play a pretty significant role in the economy. Let them have my money if they're contributing to a better economy.
Think about this for a second. Since you're young and driving a sports car, they assume you're gonna drive it like a bat outta hell. Therefore you get charged a higher premium because they think your gonna wreck your car. And then, when you do wreck/get a speeding ticket, they raise your rates even more. </font>
Yes, they do assume you're going to wreck, because chances are that you will. "And then, when you do wreck/get a speeding ticket, they raise your rates even more." Higher premiums covers their ***. Those 25+ married people don't have much of a problem with this, because apparently someone out there took some survey and found out that Hey, these people who have seemed to grow up don't wreck nearly as much as these young kids who drop all of their McDonalds paychecks into their cars. </font>
But their profiling isn't consistant. Girls on average get in more accidents then guys do, yet their insurance is cheaper. I have never met a girl that is a good driver.

Besides, what about the people that pay high premiums that don't get into an accident. Since I've been driving, I've probably paid over 20k in insurance. I've been in one accident, and that came to a total of like $8k. I'll never see that 12k again, thats enough money to buy a decent used car.

I think you should start with a clean record and only pay say $150/month. Then if you get into an accident, they raise your rates.

Quite Honestly, I think the insurance companies are pretty accurate w/ the profiling. 4 out of my 5 friends, and I would say 4 out of 5 of thier friends, all did really dumb stuff with a car @ 16. Remember that post a few days ago w/ the flipped hundai that they took off roading? I did that w/ my $200 ford escort (Didnt flip). If my car was a v8, I would have at least lost control and have gotten into an accident. Jacking up the rates on vehicles like that to discourage younger drivers probably saves lives in the end.

I think I read somewhere that a Camaro/Mustang was the no 1. most likely car for a driver under 25 (regardless of gender) to be totalled in an accident based on loss of control. And thinking back at all the times I have seen Camaro's and mustangs pulled from ditches, if that number isnt accurate, there is some truth to that. In highschool, 3 people had camaro's. I am the only one that didnt wreck mine. Noone had a z28 because of insurance. No doubt in my mind at least 1 of those individuals would be dead if they had a z28.

Just suck it up, you spend WAY more time after age 25 paying insurance than you do now. Oh well.
