Heres the best part of it, they called animal control to ask what to do with it or to see if they could come pick it up. Animal control told them this: "Get a large bin or plastic trash can, fill it with water, and euthanize it."
I find it incredibly horrible/funny.

then what? throw it o the road & see if the road kill scraper will pick it up before the double yellow lines are painted?
take the the critter out to the woods & leave it be, then make a formal complaint against Animal control, as you're not getting paid to be lazy like they are.

Animal Control would do the same thing. They would euthanize it as well. Racoons are very susceptible to rabies infections, and they spread it pretty bad. Letting it go free in the woods may only help spread rabies to other racoons and other forest critters.
Seriously this is one of the dumbest posts in a while. Tell your friend to release the racoon in the woods and quit being an a-hole. As for the rabies comment... apparently this animal was not foaming at the mouth or displaying rabid tendencies.
Why is it a dumb post? How was he being an *******? Did you read the post? Animal control told him to drown the racoon He didn't do anything besides try to do the right thing.

She has a thing about saying anything about an animal that could be unfriendly. ;)
I see i see. Shirl, we were not trying to be unfriendly to the animal at all, we for sure did not drown it, he told the animal control that was the worst thing he has ever heard.
