  • Pics of my wreck.

Since these pics were taken ive had my maro rebuilt and will have newer pics as soon as another pretty day arises here so that I can wash my baby. Anyway I was not hurt in this crash and actually the airbag is what saved me from eating steering wheel since I wasnt wearing my seatbelt. This occurred not 3 miles from my house on an old worn out asphalt backroad. It happened in a really bad spot where you go down a hill to the left and then immediately turn to your right where there is a one lane bridge with concrete side rails. Well the day it happened it had been raining the day before and I was doing the speed limit but the road was too rough and too wet when I exited the first turn going into the right hand turn towards the bridge. The rear end swung out and I tried to hold my slide all the way through the bridge thinking that if I could hold it then I would have just stopped in the road sideways. Just so happens that wasnt what happened. Forward momentum pushed my car through the bridge but at the same time forward as well and in the last two feet of the bridge my front end collided with the concrete barrier sending my around a little over 360 degrees before coming to a stop in a ditch where some shrubs stopped from hitting a couple of trees along the way. It was a horrible sight and ill be honest I literally cried for 2 days over this. It was an early graduation present from my parents and when we bought it it had 123k miles on it, every reciept from every tire and service it had ever had along with the original window sticker still in the glove box with the rest of the documentation. My parents only gave 4k for it in this condition with us being the 3rd owner. Now you can see the carnage this caused. Believe it or not however this did no bad damage to the frame. All it did was bend the frame rails just in front of the engine on either side. Here's the pics....

Yes most definitely. PS I forgot to mention, the place where I had my wreck, the year before (this happened in february) ther had been 12 other accidents in the same spot at the same bridge. The DOT finally got a clue and repaved the road with brand new black top asphalt but left the crappy 1 lane bridge there. Oh well I did however get one peice of satisfaction from this. I did partly destroy the bridge I hit, matter of fact there is still a 2ft peice of concrete still laying at the bottom of the creek where my front end knocked it off. We payed for all the repairs as well and left the insurance company out of it.

It's probably cheaper in the long run to fix it yourself, anyways...

That sucks. It looked pretty bad, but good to see you got it going again. At least you learned.

Thank God my dumb mistakes were in very open areas. I'm pretty much past the stupid sliding stage (I've only slid once accidentally), and pretty much safter overall, except excessive speeding sometimes.
