oh man..i seriously hope everyone was ok, but i have a bad feeling that the guy walking across the street was pretty much killed. people like her should not be allowed to drive.

The accident seen in the video occurred at 12:40 p.m. on 23 May 2004 at the intersection of Third Street and Edwin C. Moses Boulevard in Dayton, Ohio. Betty J. Hayslip, 75, of New Lebanon, driving a PT Cruiser, ran a red light and struck a Subaru driven by Albertina L. Walker, 41, of Dayton. The collision caused the Subaru to roll over one and a half times; it came to rest upside-down and in the process crashed into pedestrian Scott Tegtmeyer, 42, of Dayton.

Tegtmeyer, who was crossing the street in the same direction as the PT Cruiser and had just reached the curb on the opposite side, can be seen in the video breaking into a desperate run as the collided vehicles bear down on him. He could not react quickly enough, however, and the Subaru rolled atop of him, dragging him several feet across the intersection. Although medics who found Tegtmeyer's bloodied body amidst a sea of broken glass initially pronounced him dead at the scene, he began breathing while in transit with paramedics and was fully resuscitated by doctors. (As of 2 June 2004, Tegtmeyer was reported as being in serious condition at Miami Valley Hospital.)

Investigators said that at the time of the accident the crosswalk signal was red, and therefore Tegtmeyer should not have been crossing the street. They also reported that Tegtmeyer miraculously escaped alive because the dent in the side of the Subaru caused by the crash created a hollow space that allowed the vehicle to roll over him without crushing him to death. Neither vehicle was carrying any passengers, and both drivers escaped with only minor injuries.

well that's what you get for thinking. Always gotta be the chicks fault. That's why the race car had black tinted windows... I loved the looks on guys faces when they'd seen they just got beat by a chick. I hate stereotypes.

Stereotype or not, MOST soccer moms are too busy yelling at their kids, while on the phone, while trying to do their makeup to pay attention to the road. Of course there's exceptions, like you. But in general, the stereotype is very much real.

i once heard a person say that stereotypes aren't whipped out of thin air... i was arguing against him and the validity of that statement made me furious.

                    now i use it.

Sorry, but that stereotype does hold true a lot around my house. I live by a big park, and I've seen two accidents happen with soccer moms screaming at other soccer moms. Quite funny.

Almost had one hit me the other day, too. She was on her cellphone AND looking in the backseat at her kids WHILE driving. FRICKIN MORON.

i will never be a soccer mom... oh hell no. There will be a truck to pull the trailer for the dirtbikes/ go karts / junior dragster. No way will i ever drive a mini van... no way never ever ever. and i'd rather concentrate on keeping my car in one piece than blab on my cell phone, though i am guilty of it... i try not to. Especially at a stop light ;) since you never know if you might have to launch. :D

I had seen it at www.camaroz28.com, and I thought someone said it was a lady driving the pt cruiser on a cellphone that blew the redlight. It was also said the guy was not crossing the road right, and he woudl have been cutting it close with the other even if the accident didn't occur.

I am not trying to say women are bad drivers... just repeting what I thought I saw on another site about this. So calm down...

Though it does fill another stereotype, VERY PREVALENT in south florida, old person driving and not paying attention to the road.

Betty Hayslip 75 years old driving the PT cruiser.

Every accident I've ever seen in the Wal-Mart parking lot has been middle-aged to older women.

                              Food for thought.
