damn, during Charley we have this little man made pond probably no deeper then 8 feet, and it looked like the ocean out there white caps and all, and they were all going in the direction of the wind. In a way felt like when we were on a cruise ship at night.

The result, at my house:

-Big pool enclosure screens ripped.
-Two trees with large broken limbs - I cut the tree limbs off with a chain saw.
-Numerous palm fronds down.
-No electricity. Florida Power & Light says they hope to have on Thursday 9/9, an "assessment" of how long it will be before they can restore power.
-Gas lines of 1 hour or more to buy gas are the norm in Palm Beach County.

It could have been much, much worse.

Now VA is getting all the rain from it. We may just get out of school for flooding.

it hasn't rained a whole lot where we are in Virginia... luckily. Although we're supposed to get some thunderstorms. My mother-in-law's condo in melbourne beach got partially flooded though and that was through the hurrican shutters and closed glass doors - sand everywhere... it could've been worse, but she's still devastated about it.
