It is fine that you have devoted your life to false hope. Some of us accept the reality that family, friends, and memories are what define our lives, not a ignorant, dillusional jewish carpenter that lived thousands of years ago. The world is in it's current situation BECAUSE of peoples closed minds and unwillingness to accept peoples choice of religion, or lack there of.
I used to be a scenical liberal minded, athiest like you. I don't miss it. I wish you luck with yours. I'm much more happier and content now to know that I am loved. Nothing can describe that and no being can give me that, not even my wife.

Anyway the topic is not about that.

If any atheist, agnostic and satan worshippers wants a debate. Start your own post. Or, you can debate me via e-mail: naturalhit1@netzero.com
I'm more than happy and willing.

For now stick to the topic or just lock it and let it pass.

You talk about marketing as a bad thing. How do you think a revision of the bible was introduced? You like to keep forgetting that your religion isn't running on a holy book its running on bible v 2.0. Look at your own website. You use people's suffering to market your own church. What a bunch of worthless crap if I've ever heard it. You think your better then the business men? YOUR A BUSINESSMEN! You attempt to control people's lives directly. All they do is attempt to sell them a toaster. You attempt to "save" their immortal soul... if your wrong, you just commit an act of pure evil by corrupting the souls of the innocent. Pfttt, stay buried in New Orleans with that talk. The world may not be ready to hear Pastor Larry yet, your speeches are past their prime. Go back to the 1800s.
Be thankful, because you are living in the grace of Christianity in America. If you believe in Jesus, you believe in God. It is all inclusive because of the belief of the Holy Trinity.

You want a debate, e-mail me. Like I said above. Stick to the topic or let it pass.

You speak so highly of your religion yet in it's brief existance it has murdered hundreds of thousands, if not millions, of innocent human beings. Modern religion is simply an opiate for the masses, the weak are taken advantage of and controlled by insecure and desperate individuals such as you, larry and thor. You both are the first to label and judge your fellow man, rather than accept him. You are scared to fail at what LIFE has to offer you, and thus seek acceptance and guidance from fallacies. God did not create life on Earth, nor did Jesus rise from his grave. In fact, almost everything in the bible ficticious and written at a time when uneducated people had to be told stories in order to grasp a concept of good-will or humanity.
Please by all means devote your life to that which makes you happy, but do not label me an athiest, and please do not waste your time praying for me. Instead, spend some time telling those closest to you that you love them, because in the end, family is all you have.

Actually, in the end, you don't have ****. You're dead. I'm athiest/agnostic, but I know that w/o religion, democracy would never have been set up. It's a good way to teach masses good from evil, and a good moral guide. Take it as that, and it's not a problem.... but democracy only could have work with religion in place.

no, it's a given fact, even an athiest/whatever you are should be able to awknowledge that. I can even cite text from founding fathers on that one, or at least 2 modern day philosophers, Burns being one off the top of my head.

Domocracy needs a collective group that has morality to start off of.. and religion is a great way of doing so. Without religion, sure, morality could have been set up, but not enough to have start America's democracy.

I'd just like to remind everyone that religion caused the worst period in western history... every time the christians start talking about changing the world it makes me cringe because i think about rats and crusades.

You judge me and yet you don't know me. I have accepted and helped more people than you know and no one was turned down. I don't turn anyone away because of race, religious belief or lack of it, economic status, sexual orientation or whatever. How about you?

You probably hang out with your own cliche, or same social-economic status. Try going to third world countries and give some food to the poor, medical treatment to the diseased, and talk to the elderly.

How is the Bible fictious written by uneducated people? It's pretty darn good if that is so. Yet historical, there is alot of evidence now than ever before. Last week they just found where John the Baptist stayed and did his preachings and baptizing. We know for a fact that there is a Moses, Abraham, and Jesus. There are 3 Roman articles, one from Josephus writing about a peaceful man from Galilee. And he's Roman too.

Religion or men that killed? Men who are wolves in sheeps clothing who murdered. Or men who hijacked the religion of Islam, Judaism and Christianity to do evil. Don't forget evil and good are exclusive. Non of the scriptures taught about murders from any religion.

I don't hide behind any religion, that's low of you to say that about me which you know nothing.

Opiate for the masses huh. How many died from Marxism: peaceful tibetians, christians, Jews, Muslims, should I go on.

Like I said, I was a liberal minded atheist from high school through my junior year in college. Because of my athiestic professors at college it made me think about what it means to be an atheist. But when I converted I challenged my professors and was able to shut them up and in turn they gave me a bad grade. I did report it to the Dean and it's a long ugly story. I went to Cal Baptist instead to finish my college.

I know where you are coming from and what aims you want to take at me and my God.

You want a debate, e-mail me naturalhit1@netzero.com (I'll be on vacation till Monday though but will challenge you when I get back).

You guys are hijacking my thread for your shallow point of view.

Start you OWN THREAD!! STOP HIJACKING MINE!! Now let it pass.

I could go on about some of the things that have been said, but I'll just leave them alone. Too many issues of ignorance to address with people who "stand alone on themselves" and people who are their "own person", and put people down JUST BECAUSE they profess a faith in Christ.

I do my best to go by what the bible says, what was written by the apostles and what Christ spoke, and the stories of the old testament. I won't quote exact scripture, but in Romans the Bible says to basically NOT force the word on people, and if they don't want to hear it, go on, it's not your whippin'. There are a lot of things that the supports the claims of the bible. Look at where the descendents of Ishmael settled. Quite odd, how a book written thousands of years ago can accurately describe the world's situation in places around Palestine. That's just one example of many.

And although I don't agree with a few things that other Christians on this board do, (Read, QUALIFICATIONS OF A MINISTER, 1st Timothy says for a minister to be the HUSBAND of one wife), we're all in this together, little things here and there should not keep us apart. Society has changed, but God is the today, as he was yesterday, and will be as time stands, as is HIS word. People will throw the "God is no respector of persons" argument to try to justify a lot of things, and there's "Christians" that will do whatever they want because they are "forgiven", despite the fact that forgiveness requires apology, which in the true meaning is lament, and not wanting to do it again. It's black and white, some people will straddle the fence and created a gray area just to pack the doors of the church. That isn't right, that's playing politics.
But hey. If you've been redeemed by His grace, let's get together and stop fighting.
Although folks should look to Christ as an example, Christians are supposed to convey and possess that love that He had for us. Christian is defined as "Christ like", and there's a LOT of things that (more modern) christians do that the bible really says not to...quite blatantly. I'm not any better than anyone else, but I try to do my best.
I think we all should.

Ok I'm done.

I agree, but how many other things could be described that way? The pastor I saw last night said that the world is getting more, not less, religious and that many secular people would agree. Why? Because of the government and economic conditions of the world today. People simply have enough time to go listen to religious leaders talk, and they end up getting converted.

I am an atheist, but I go to church. Funny, huh. It makes me think, and question my views which in turn makes me realize that I've got the right of it which is this: There is no logical reason to believe in God. Therefore, if God does exist, then he didn't want people to believe in him because he would be omnipotent, omniscient, and omnipresent. So, if he's omniscient and omnipotent, he both knew that people would conclude there is no logical reason to believe in him, and he would have the power to change that. Something for people 2000 years after Jesus, because it is just not sensible to believe wholeheartedly in a book that says homosexuals, adulterators, and people who curse their parents should be put to death.

Oh, back to the point: anything can be bad when taken too seriously. The bible, the torah, the koran, they are good books to live your life by. When you start trying to force your beliefs on other people you get into trouble because it just isn't right.
