You time travel people are sooooo funny. Let me ask you this. Are you going to be put into some porter potty type of housing, close your eyes for a few seconds, open them, and then appear in 2020 or 1940? (whichever you choose). And then, how is it possible to calculate the EXACT time that you want to go to. Say I want to go to Oct 31st 2002 When I got my first ticket, so then I can not do what I did. Am I gonna appear next to myself, or will I be myself in my "past" body. I know I wont be next to myself, because then that would cause chaos! (The "past" would go into hysteria and "we" the "future" may not exist). So therefore, I would have to be in my past body. So while I'm typing, am I me in the future, or me now?? Hmmmm..........

One last point to silence you...

If one person Time Travels into the past, just one, and messes up to where they end up dying instead, or someone they know dies in the process, then the memories of that person will be erased in everyone's memory that knew the person. Everyone who's lives were changed by that persons interactions, they would have new personalities. Thus....somehow, if time travel became a popular thing, then our personalities will be changing constantly and some of us may "appear and dissapear" from now and then.

(Sorry...forgot my thought...I died for a second but went back to the past to relive myself)

It's good to have imagination, but the process of time travel is IMPOSSIBLE! The odds are better of me closing my eyes right now and having every single hot celebrity chick ring my door bell and say...."lets go upstairs." Be realistic people...some things in life ARE IMPOSSIBLE. It is soooooooo funny how people are sooooooooo gullable into believing anything they hear that sounds legit. Hey, if a PhD is smarter than me, and the PhD says time travel is possible, then he's right! That's why STUPID PEOPLE need to be gotten rid of.
    1. To answer the first part of your post, the war takes place 20 years prior to where he came from.. so it is plausible

    2. I'm a time travel person? I simply posted something that could cause some interest here at the site, nothing more

    3. Didn't you know? All the newest time travel devices use porter potties

    4. If it existed, none of us could explain it, so don't try.

    5. About a person dying and everyone's memory is erased... watch some more Back to the Future

whoops sorry, I had forgotten, you "silenced" me

you aren't entirely correct, the past and the future aren't necessarily humanly concepts. It is proven that objects can experience time faster than other objects depending on their speed and relativity to one another. Time is just another dimension, it isn't something that slowly goes along at a steady pace, it is actually quite malleable and it is proven we can go forward in time (exp. I experience 59 min. while flying at mach 4 while someone else experiences 1 hour on earth). So who's to say that reversing the energy that takes to go forward in time could be manipulated. Everything has equilibrium in the universe.. electrons to protons, matter to anti matter.. future travel to past? Who knows, but it certainly remains to be seen

So then, if you go into the past, where electricity doesn't exist or is poorly distributed, how will you get back? You can't PORTAL your way through time. It will never ever happen. I'm sorry
        1. if we knew the means of time travel, we'd all be doing it

        2. Nobody has said it has to involve traveling at the speed of light, even though it is theoretically possible, it's said that all matter turns into energy, but things can be manipulated

        3. What do you care if we can go back in time or not? Your adamently deny the tiniest chance that it is possible

        4. It's your type of concrete thinking that hinders mental expansion

tachyons don't necessarily "move".. from what I understand that their travel is instantaneous and far from our understanding

Sorry JC, I guess I'm just too much of a realist. And while I do agree with your counterpoints, I'm still not convinced. (Sorry, I didnt bother reading the whole article). So now you're saying that you can only go 60 years max? So that means that the time travel concept originated in 2064 or before that? I highly doubt that in 60 years, we'll have that capability to "mastermind" gravitational forces. Especially with the issues at hand now. Hell, I can't even get my microwave to work right. But...I guess between now and 2064, I'll keep my eyes peeled on eBay for "time machine."

                hehe yaaaa looney bin!!!

I hear ya, sorry to get so defensive.. once again I'm not expert on the subject.. but John Titor said that he can make a max time jump of 60 years at one time, meaning he can go further back but he has to do it in parts.. he can go however many of years back he wants (supposively). In the article he states he left 2036 to go to 1975 then to 2000.. to get back home he has to get back on the worldline he was on, so he had to go back to 1975, then back to 2036.. it's all probably bull****, but I like to keep my bs in order

It seems to me that what this guy is saying is highly unlikely. Without getting into the physics of the subject, look at his timeline. He claims to have come from 2034. He says that a civil war starts in 2005 and that in 2015 we all get nuked. Assuming that our scientists were able to work at their current pace, it's unlikely that we'd have the kind of abilities that he discusses within 30 years. Throw in civil and nuclear war, and it's damn near unthinkable. It's also VERY unlikely that a civil war would last very long in this country. Our military is simply too well-trained and well-equipped. Even a guerilla war in the mountains wouldn't take too terribly long.

Regarding the speed of light: Someone stated on page 1 that it's impossible to travel faster than the speed of light. That's not exactly true. Scientists (I belive at CERN, but I might be wrong) have managed to increase the speed of light by using some sort of cesium vapor (this was not widely reported, but I saw it in - I think - the Omaha World-Herald). It moves so fast that it almost arrives before it left its origin. Since light is made of particles (photons), and those particles are now moving faster than the speed of light, it is therefore illogical to say that faster-than-light travel is not possible. Remember, many prominent scientists thought that supersonic travel was impossible.

If your car disapeared, how do you know there were flames trailing behind? Or did you go back 10 secs in the past to watch? ;)

Did anyone watch the show Sliders? A few years back I had nothing else to do and watched an all day marathon on the SciFi channel. Basically the same concept, where he can go back all he wants, but he can never go back to where he started.

the Jet Li movie The One also has the same concept, where they don't necessarily go back in time, but theres parallel timelines, and Jet Li goes to each one and kills himself to become stronger.

I haven't read all of it, but it does seem pretty intresting, but the only thing I can think of with it, in the regard of it being a hoax: Why? Why would someone take FOUR months of almost hourly posts just to make people believe this? Whats he gaining? A laugh or two? It hardly seems worth it to me, especially from someone who looks somewhat intelligent. Don't get me wrong, I'm not saying its true, but I'm keeping an open mind. Lets not forget whats going on right now, the world has some serious problems. No one was even considering another war with Iraq in 2000, seems alittle odd to me that he could have such good timing.

HInd sight is 2020. You can skew anyprediction you want & make it true after the event has happened.

Ask yourself this: How true have predictions from the Magic 8-Ball been? scary, huh? ;)

I think what they were doing at cern was work on entanglement, which is also very neat(no wait, they might have been playing with quantum tunneling). Either way, the speed of light in a vacuum is 300,000Km/hr, and it can vary depending on the medium in which it is traveling. And light does not go faster than light, but like I said, you have to consider the medium and in the case of quantum tunneling and entanglement, the speed is really the same but the distance changes.

What you were talking about is neat cause if I remember transmission speeds were like 3-5times what they should have been...this is particularly helpful in computing (FTL processing is still a little bit away, but it's coming).

And if you remember that photons have duality (they can act as both particles and waves), so they are not just a particle...they are rather interesting ...esp. when you think that at the speed of light time stops...which is really neat when you think about that to a photon moving away from the big bang(which has nothing to absorb it) crossed the expanse of billions of light years instantly according to the photon's clock. Pesky relativity..lol.
