  • Anyone here a Public Notary?

    Just wondering...

I became a Public Notary a couple of days ago and i was wondering if anyone had any good ideas of where i could get some easy business

I work for UPS and will get most of my business like that, but i would like to do it outside of work

If any of you are notary's here, where do u guys advertise, if you do that is?

Im 20 and in college right now, so i dont think that doing it on campus would be a very good place for business

    any ideas are appreciated

I know in the phone book there are notaries that will travel, they charge big time to come to the 'customers' location.

A notary is someone who signs and witnesses someone sign a document to prove it was actually them.

Basically for legal papers and such...not much too it really.

No classes, just pay the fees for the stamp and thats about it, really easy....

Just a way to make some extra bucks.

$10 for everytime I sign something and no other cost to me, so its all profit.

That is cool, cant beat that....

Possibly try the newspapers classified ads, if it isnt too expensive.
Also, some restaurants and diners have like pin up boards near the entrance, for cars for sale, and business advertisements... you could make a few paper advertisements and pin them up.

I'm a notary, but I mostly have it for my employer's benefit.

If you want to drum up some business, you could try putting an ad in the weekly ad newspapers or such. Also, if you have friends that are in real estate or such, they may be able to throw some business your way.

Put out the word to your friends and family. Eventually, everyone needs a notary and it's not always at the most convenient times.

                Side thought.

Do make sure to get bonded. It doesn't cost very much, but if anyone ever comes back on you for not properly verifying someones ID, the bond will cover your butt.

In my state it's required. Your's may be different.

We have a ton of secretaries/paralegals at my law firm that are notaries, so any time something needs to be notarized I just hand it to them. I never really realized that people pay money to have things notarized.
