I'm working on having the dyno runs hosted and video to come shortly.
I had serious issues with not being able to hold 3rd gear. Basically, it would down shift, then eventually get back into third gear, and cut out at 5,000- 5,100 rpm's because it would automatically upshift into overdrive.
It is difficut with an auto, it is MORE difficult with a high stall (3200 pro yank) to dyno.
Basically, even running it to 105 mph it down shifted!
I ended up getting 4 dyno runs ( in third gear) from 4,650 rpm's to 5,100 rpm's max ONLY.
The dyno runs were only a 450 rpm window! These are NOT full dyno runs as you can see.
At 5100 the car just upshifted into overdrive, even with me holding the shifter in 3rd gear.
Dyno room temp was between 88.67 degree's F and 89.47 degree's F
Dyno room humidity was from 51% to 48%
Dyno room 29.62 - 29.59 in-Hg
#'s were:
198.01 rwtq and 180.83 rwhp
196.26 rwtq and 181.50 rwhp
192.42 rwtq and 178.31 rwhp
190.94 rwtq and 180.80 rwhp
Keep in mind, these #'s are ONLY achieved from 4,650 - 5,100 rpm's.
If I had the ability to hold third gear until 5,800 rpm's then the #'s might be better
These #'s are SAE corrected.
A/F #'s were 12.0 on all runs so I run rich.
I never realized that 1st gear shifts at 5,800 rpm's
2nd gear shifts at 5,400-5,500 rpm's
3rd gear shifts at 5,100
I have NOT been using my entire RPM band on ALL of my runs!
Why you ask???
Well, my bird is programmed for 3:08 gears.
I run 3:23 gears. To my knowledge this causes the car speedometer/ odometer to read 5-6% higher so the car would typicallt "think" it is at a higher speedometer and would shift sooner.
So, how do I address this??? HP Tuners through Texas Speed I NEED programming! This was the main purpose for my dyno day today. Get as much info as possible for the tuners so they can tune my bird to its full potential.
I'll be sending them my dyno runs, A/F ratio, etc so they can go off that info.
On a side note: I run rich.
Well, driving from my home in north jersey all the way to PA, sit in traffic, drive in 80-90 degree weather with humidity frm 80 - 50%, dyno 4 passes and drive home I saw 29 MPG!!!
If I checked BEFORE my dyno runs I think my MPG would have been around 31-32 MPG.
Woo hoo, gotta love having a V6 that spins to low 12's on the bottle, low 14's N/A and sees over 30 MPG :D
Well, I'm constantly learning sooo much more about my bird everyday.
I hate to speculate.... but it would be nice to know what my bird would run using the ENTIRE rpm band!
I've never specifically watched my tach when racing.... because it is an auto. I would always watch the fuel psi, A/F, tranny temp etc guages.
