From what I've heard, GM has been able to get over 1,000hp out of the ecotec.

"The engine has a 12-pound psi Eaton M62 blower driven by a single-track belt, with an intercooled air exchanger to cool the air going to the blower. GM gussied up the engine's internals with a forged-steel crankshaft, heavy-duty aluminum pistons, and sodium-filled exhaust valves, which run cooler. There is also a block-mounted oil cooler, forged-steel connecting rods and a high-flow exhaust system. Wasmer predicts a 6.4-second 0-to-60-mph time and a 14.9-second quarter-mile."

I thought Chevy was going to drop the SS?

I think it is hideous, and looks like:

a.) the GTO
b.) a sick looking import
c.) ricer

Sorry...I think some of the new cars GM are spitting out are the worst cars I've ever seen.

What the hell is the Aveo...my friend has a Festiva and it looks better than an Aveo.

I think I might get one.
That or an SRT-4... would like to stay GM though, eveno tho I am mad at my GM car right now.

Going to discuss it further with my parents this weekend when I go home.

Where is the listing for the colors that will be available?? I'm definately interested in this car. I'd pick up a used one down the road for commuting. This looks like a decent replacement for the Cavalier.

It'd be a decent replacement, I must agree, but I would NEVER sell the Firebird for it.

I just emailed my local dealer back home about the SS. Apparently if you preorder one, you get XM radio and a sunroof for free.

Maybe because its sole purpose is to replace the Cavalier?

Cool car... might consider other options for the $21k sticker... a mach one is like $24k now ;)

And I am curious to see how they perform. If they are barely par as a performer or go above ane beyond expectations like the srt-4

It only has 10 less advertized HP than the SRT-4. I wonder how much it weighs and how much the SRT-4 weighs.

I think you are right.

I'll just put a really small blower pulley on mine if I get one.

i know it's replacing the cavalier.. but if all they're gonna do is change the name then it seems like a waste of time.. seriously, that pic is a 2004 cavalier with a spoiler..
