• High Terror Level, NJ, NY DC

Sigh, bergen county, my county in nj, is listed as 1 of 5 here in jersey.

I saw all 5 nj counties listed really quickly and it is basically, north eastern tip.

My buddy saw several official type cars w/ official type men over near my job (1/4 mile away max).

I live 15 min from NYC.

Can't really get worried, but concerned.

I was there w/ the fire department for 9/11......and it was an eye opener.

I'm working a lot of 12-8 shifts this week so traffic won't be an issue.

Well, I'll just sit back and watch

Sorry, but I'm totally against the terrorist warnings. Ok, so the government is going to strike more fear in the hearts of Americans? Are people not supposed to go into work during the time the warning stops to when it ends? The whole point of terrorism is FEAR and everytime we post the warnings nationally, I can see them scoring another victory point. I just couldn't see myself not going into work or living life because of a warning. Plus, you know how stressful and worried those people are now? I leave for Italy on Aug 6th, and I change planes in NYC. There's no reason for me to cancel my flight or get all worked up now.

on a lighter note, it's interesting to think that I could actually be safer over here than back home. hrmmm.

You're starting to sound like Michael Moore

It is just a warning... like "be on your toes incase somehing happens"...

They should be careful though, the govt is starting to become the boy who cried wolf.

Little boy kept crying "a wolf is eating my sheep!" and making these men run over to scare the wolf away, only to laugh when they got there and there was no wolf.
One day a wolf really was attacking his sheep so he yelled out "a wolf is attacking my shep!" but nobody believed him and he lost all his sheep.

See what I'm saying here? Keep giving "terror warnings" nobody is going to believe them and we might have another "surprise".

98Goldbird, if the government didn't provide us with some type of warning when they get specific intelligence, we'd all accuse them of not acting enough to stop the attack when it did happen. I'd much rather know that I am in a target area then find out the hard way. The point of the warning is not to scare anyone, but to let you know to be a little more vigilant, a little more observant. How would you feel if you were in a terrorist attack that the government thought might happen and they never warned you?

As for the "crying wolf" analogy, you're absolutely right. But it's something that'll happen if the CIA and FBI are doing their jobs... that is, they'll warn us of a possible attack so that we can be careful, then stop it anyway. Remember: we'll never hear about the CIA's thousands of successes, only that one failure.

I like the warnings. Makes people more cautious and gives them a heads up about stuff to watch out for. I dont really think it scares anyone unless you lived in the stated state then it might. But still people go on with their daily lives, do there job, but they are still aware of a possible attack. That way if you see a towel head with a big suit case you will know something up.

My parents live 10 mins from DC.

I, on the other hand, am currently residing in a sleepy town in the central kansas plains. Are there any Terrorist threats for me???
