After dropping off my fiancee this morning at work, I heard a low level *tick*tick*tick*tick* sound every second or so. Being in a rush, I didn't think anything of it and proceeded on to work. After getting to work, the sound is really loud. What I found unusual about this is that the sound followed me to work. When I heard it earlier, it sure didn't sound like it was near me.
So I get out of the car and leave it running. I notice the sound is coming from under the hood. So I pop the hood and the sound is quite loud. Searching all over the drivers side of the engine bay, I find an old plug wire (another WTF moment in itself cause I counted thrown away when I changed them). Well, that wasn't responsible for the tick - I had thought maybe the belt was smacking it it.
So I keep searching all over the car, I eventually look at the #1 plug and notice that I see WHITE where I should only see the grey of the plug cap.
MY ficken plug wire came loose after 2 weeks and 600 miles!?!?
Well no s**t it did! Funniest thing though is that I obviously drove with it like this for over an hour with no power loss or misfires being shown. The plug connector was actually still close enough to cause the cylinder to fire!
