Maybe not for long if Chrysler has anything to say about it.

    Also, when they were putting the vette's time up, I noticed they had previously tested an Evo. I wouldn't exactly call that too much world class compared to a Porsche or Lambo.

      </font>
I can show you a hundred concept car articles.

      Like any other American supercar, it will remain a concept. Or if it is produced, it will fall flat, as every other American supercar concept has for the past fifty years.

      "If if's and but's were candy and nuts we'd all have a wonderful Christmas".

      At least Europeans have the balls to actually BUILD AND SELL supercars. How many have they made now? Wait, they have: Koenigsegg, Lamborghini, Ferrari, McLaren, Porsche, others... several models per brand for fifty years... now Ford builds one really crappy one and Chrysler TALKS about producing ONE supercar? Get with the program, U.S. auto market!

          Uhm. You also seem to forget that these guys are fans of cars doing stuff for you - they want it totally computerized with feather-light transmissions built for women. Where as in america we want something tough, solid, hard, strong -- something we can drive all week then on the weekends take it out the track rev it up to 3000rpms -- drop that heavy *** clutch, and haul *** down the 1/4 mile or thru the twisties at your local roadcourse.

          Stefan, where you're wrong is the Corvette IS faster than the Porsche 911 Turbo, it IS faster than the GT3....

          Uhm, top speed now? Too bad the record is set by a 1988 Chevrolet Callaway Corvette which did 254.7 compared to the 2000 Koenigsegg CC which did 242.3 and the 1997 McLaren F1 which topped out at 240.0...

              Stefan you do know the Ford GT beat the new Porsche and Ferrari in a Car and Driver full road/track test right? and it beat them SOUNDLY. The fact is it is no pale imitation of a supercar, it IS a supercar.

                Stefan, when you say that price doesn't matter, I think that what you're forgetting is that the Corvette has no pretentions to compete with cars from Lamborghini and Ferarri. Corvette is in an entirely different class, it does not claim to be a supercar. That's like comparing a Cavalier to a BMW and saying "hey, price doesn't matter. The Europeans did it better." It's not fair to compare different classes that way. If you really want a fair Euro-American comparison, throw a C6 against, say, a Lotus Elise. The Ford GT or Saleen S7 are the cars that should be compared to Lamborghini and company.

                I also think that you're wrong that Americans don't appreciate true automotive art. As many Ferarris and Lambos are sold here as in Europe. The Ford GT was sold out practically before it reached production. Like I said in your post about the Koenigsegg, it's just that the Big 3 have never found a halo car like that to be profitable. I think that if the Ford GT takes off, you'll see more companies willing to try.

                Finally, that Americans like our cars inexpensive doens't make us cheap. To say that the Corvette's bang-for-buck value doesn't matter is to ignore the fact that it's a sports car that the average man has a shot at owning. The VAST majority of Americans, Europeans, etc. will never sit in, much less own, a true supercar. Good thing Corvette never tries to be one.

                      C5R is owning all in the racing series. Cept for the Audi supercar, they usually place in first or second right on the Vettes butt.

                      Even the CTS-V was owning their series and then they required restrictions because it was too fast and beating everyone else. Yet they let BMW bend the rules and use a bigger engine than they're suppose to.

                        last time i checked, the new 'vette was better looking than any of the new BMW's that came out, more powerful too.

                        and i'm calling BS on the NSX beating the vette. the kid driving the vette obviously doesn't know how to drive, and i don't think the guy testing the car on the road course does either. see how many times he went off the road? stupid brits...
