Did you guys see the new Pontiac G6?
Check it out. New G6
Is that suppose to be a replacement for the Firebird just like the GTO was the replacement for the Trans Am?
yes, grand am maybe. its a sedan, how can that take the place of the firebird? I would think the solstice is more firebirdish than the G6. I only hope they decide to put the supercharged engine in that they are giving as an option in the cobalt.

It is definitely the replacement for the Grand Am. It'll have a coupe and a hard-top convertible option within the first couple of years, a n/a V6 pushing 240hp will be optional. Nissan Altima and Honda Accord, look the hell out! I think even the base engine is a 200hp 6. If the price is right, I'd hit it.
Looks like Pontiac is finally ready to compete with the Japanese.
I originally read when Pontiac first released info about it that in 1-2 years after its first released there will be a GTP version with 230 horsepower, AWD, and a 6spd manual transmission.
Mustangs.. Come to the darkside...

The dark side is the path to the shadow of greed. =D
The first pic that it shows(at the top) reminds me of a 4 door accord. I guess from the front it looks more pontiacish.
I would have to drive it and stuff..I'm not much on sedans.
EDIT: Why is the gas mileage on the GT less? It shows them as having the same engine as far as I can tell...different gearing or something?

I don't recall ever reading anything from GM stating that the GTO was the replacement for the Trans Am. THEY NEVER SAID IT. The GTO is the replacement for a void that is in their product line. That void was caused when the GTO was offed a couple dozen years ago. Lol.
And for the record, the original GTO had a horrible exterior design. You guys haven't forgot that have you? You guys can hate the new GTOs looks cause "it doesn't honor the GTO herritage" or whatever crap you want to say. The fact is remains, the old GTO and the new both have sedate styling, and I happen to like that sleeper look.
Back to the REAL question in this thread, the G6 is the Grand Am replacement.
I would really like those, but there is not coupe option. The new 3.5L is smokin.
I think I will just get a cobalt and put a teeny tiny puller on the blower.
