running on a tred mill is pretty much just running in place...

there is no resistance with a tredmil thats why i say its better to get out of the house and run a real mile or two around the block

What resistance is there running outside? Running isn't about resistance. And while I agree running on a treadmill and running outside aren't the same for us that don't live in florida its way to f'in cold outside to run. Wisconsin is a tad chilly this time of year.

As for how that is, like the guy said above it depends on what you're trying to accomplish.

There is a big difference kiddo..

Treadmill's are usually for warm ups, light injuries, or stamina workout.

jogging/running outside creates more resistance and you will be working body to push yourself to move, not just lifting legs up and down up and down.

Run on a treadmill, okay now jog around the block a few times or jog in a hilly park area.

          The big difference is resistance.

Tell me, why do football players run in circles outside?

Why don't they just put them on treadmills for 2 hours?

even on an inclined tredmill it wont reach the amount of resistance it takes to propell your body forward on a flat surface off the tredmill..

what a pointless rebuttle. you have a track that literally pushes your feet back when your foot hits it.. its doing all the HARD work for you.

maybe you just havent ever run outside? So what its cold out? put on some sweats and bam.. your good to go. the only problem really with cool air is that the air is thin up there.. like myself, i have asthma and can't do sports activities in the extreme cold., other than that you should be fine besides maybe a runny nose. lol

trunks, in no way is this towards you.. just dont want u thinking im dogg'n ya or anything.

but if you want honesty.. losing calories is nothing if your not gaining muscle at the same time. your just gonna get those calories back after your next meal. the best way to lose weight is to replace it with muscle, muscle burns fat when you sleep for cry'n out loud.

Tyler, unless you can prove your point then I disagree with you. HOWEVER! Running outside is far harder because it FORCES you to control your pace. IE: I hop on a treadmill and set it to 6mph. After 1hr of running I know I've gone 6 miles. But it is far harder to train your body and make it maintain a 6mph pace outside.

And running outside tears the body up FAR quicker then running on a treadmill. If you're just starting out, it would be a better practice to start with the treadmill. If you're training for any sort of timed/distance running, do it outside.

Want to lose weight, inside on the treadmill.
                  Want to gain muscle/strenght, outside.

also, you ever hop off of a tredmill and try to walk normally on ground.. yea... its hard.. because your body is used to your feet being pushed backwards by a conveyer belt. think about it..

HA HA HA HA HA Wow, I wish I was a kid again.

BTW (way off topic, but you misspelled Jennifer's last name on your links page. It's Shaffer not Shafter. Her family never learned to spell Schafer right, but at least give her credit.)

Wow, these are getting way too dumb for me to rebut.

Ever go rollerblading and then walk? Wow I guess it must be because of resistance.
Ever spin around 20 times then walk? Wow I guess it must be because of resistance.
Ever swim for 40 laps then walk? Wow I guess it must be because of resistance.
Or how about standing in a doorway and pusing your arms upwards. When you step out they go up on their own. RESISTANCE! woo hoo.

Continue on. I won't try to debunk your theories.
